One of my students was denied the @NSF GRF this year by virtue of being deemed ineligible because they took a one-week bootcamp prior to starting grad school and it showed up as a summer "class" on their transcript. Seems this could affect many applicants. Be aware! #NSFGRFP

I'm deeply saddened by Dick's passing-- I got the news in stunned silence. Dick loved evolutionary biology, population genetics, mathematics, and theory. He was an exceptionally clear thinker and writer about knotty concepts. He was fun and funny. Thoughtful, kind, generous.

@SMWadgymar Also, maybe once funding agencies like NSF, NIH, DOI etc gather courage and tell journals directly $ they are willing to pay for single pub. Im tired of PI consumers being put in the middle to "sort out the market". PIs switching to other journals will not force Nature to change.
