To be fair the Israeli forces have a much more focused mission.
They know what they exist for. Clue is in the name "IDF".
That's important.
We aren't really sure what the UK forces exist for. We expend very little of our military effort really on defence of our realm.
We spend a lot on expeditionary warfare hanging on the coat tails of the americans.
Israel, for example, has no interest at all in owning aircraft carriers. It has some submarines - likely in order to project a global ICBM nuclear capability from, and some coastal patrol - and that's it for a navy.
For Airforce, it throws everything in to having lots of highly capable short range front line fighter aircraft - to defend Israel
And then it really throws its full weight behind its army, trained for a highly specific role of defending its own territory.
