@hairycain Hell, a WK main eventer not having achieved anything and constantly being made to lose big moments kind of makes it worse in my eyes and it kind of confirms the 'he doesn't deserve it and got this handed to him' story. Which New Japan absolutely shouldn't be doing.

@hairycain Of course. But it's absolutely not been treated as an achievement by the company OR fans. In fact, to a lot of people it's done him more harm than good. Meanwhile since then New Japan refuses to give him anything that actually shows they're behind him.

@morningpuroresu @MayhemSkully I think they need to give him SOMETHING and the TV title would work. Then again, they love squashing his momentum with ill-adviced title challenges that don't go anywhere, so who knows.

This match was great. Like not “these guys have already been great, why are we only saying it now” great, like “they made that actual leap they hadn’t yet” great. And that’s fine.

@RamsiestheGr8 Personally I think they had a good match in the G1 - Shota especially - so with a bit of luck we can finally move forward with Shota.

@SmarkInfested I've been on the "Shota as tv champ" train since at least the G1 Kinda wish he had just beaten ELP but there's plenty of story with him and takeshita (and no time to explore it since takeshita wont be on tour)

@VinceKage @QuincySeven I enjoy GOK. I'm just not sure they enjoy everything they do and their character is a little conflicting. They have the potential, but I'm not sure either NJPW or GOK themself wants to put much effort in at this point. Which is sad.

Callum Newman being the top heel in the company would allow House of Torture to take a bit of a back seat. That wouldn't be a bad thing. HoT being the only genuine heel faction was always a bit of a challenge since it meant needing them all over the card. We now have UE too.
