NEWS: NASA is planning a bigger @SpaceX Moon mission role using Starship, in a massive blow to Boeing. With the new proposal, Boeing's SLS would no longer be used to boost Orion close to the moon. The demand for AI is going to grow exponentially for a while (if not forever). The supply for AI is going to look a lot more linear in comparison. Scaling atoms is a lot harder than scaling bits. For this reason, the price of compute is going to rise substantially. A lot of electronics will get expensive, and fun toys like image and video generation that are relatively cheap today may become prohibitively expensive. Enjoy it now while you can.

Well-to-Wheel (full cycle): EVs still win in most scenarios (often 2-3x overall efficiency), though it depends on electricity source. With average U.S. grid mix, BEVs are typically 50-70% more efficient overall than gasoline ICE vehicles. With cleaner/renewable grids, the gap widens dramatically (up to 70%+ WTW efficiency for EVs vs. 11-37% for ICE).

Regardless of what happens in Europe and the U.S., the world is moving to EVs. There is nothing that western automakers can do to reverse this trend, and geopolitical risk in oil will only accelerate it. Either get good at EVs, or wither away.
