I’m encouraged that nearly USD 740 million of the USD 2.2 billion pledged at the first Africa Clean Cooking Summit has already been disbursed across almost 30 African countries. The Clean Cooking in Africa 2026 Progress Report shows real momentum: nearly 12 million people gained access to clean cooking in 2024, and 2026 is on track to be the fastest year yet. Kenya leads disbursements at 19%, followed by Uganda, Tanzania and South Africa at 7% each. Building on the USD 2.2 billion mobilized in 2024, partners also announced a further USD 900 million last Thursday. I welcome this progress and urge faster deployment so these commitments translate into real impact for households and communities across Africa.
