A turbulent start to 2026 for NFTs: Foundation acquired, Nifty Gateway shutting down, and NFT Paris cancelled. Grateful to @ArtverseParis in Paris for quickly stepping in with a fantastic alternative program — thoughtful conversations on art, film financing, gaming, and AI, plus a refreshing collector/curator perspective on inspiring artworks. 🙏 @borgetsebastien @arthurmadrid @bygrida & Peiyao Marketplaces may be consolidating, but the bigger shift needed is away from speculation and short-term hype toward real use cases. Digital assets that support ownership + utility (ticketing, loyalty, phygital, reveals) still hold real potential. NFTs aren’t dead — they need reframing. And omni-channel storytelling can build brands and experiences in new ways and help bridge Web3 innovations to Web2 audiences. Spice Journeys is working on this and looking for a home for the next utility-driven digital asset collections. 2026 will be an interesting year! So appreciate your comment and question. For me, there has to be a blend as an omni-channel storyteller. Digital and IRL should complement each other to expand the experience. Common narratives and themes is a place to start as well as featuring film at IRL events with food (see the event I held at The Dolder Grand on my website). Would love to share more!

Sad to hear this news about @nft_paris being cancelled and wondering what this means about #NFTs. I am still very glad I held a "digital art" show with an NFT sale on Nifty Gateway - Curated in 2023. They are shutting down this month too. I still believe a non-fungible token is a valuable technology that just needs a reframing and better use cases. What do you think?

The market collapse hit us hard. Despite drastic cost cuts and months of trying to make it work, we couldn't pull it off this year. All tickets will be refunded within 15 days.
