@wtflanksteak Parks is still very relevant in the way it portrays how the townsfolk view government. The town hall scenes are still really funny. And pretty much everyone’s distrust of anything the government is doing is very accurate

Parks & Rec is less joke dense than 30 Rock and had a rocky first season. Once it hit its stride, it's so good. It's seen as light because it's more optimistic than the other Thursday night NBC shows. That tone didn't age the same way as 30 Rock's cynicism.
Kyle Kringle@SkinnyTuna

is parks and recreation genuinely on the same level as 30 rock and community or am i being trolled? from the outside it just looked like a The Office-lite (see also Brooklyn 99)

Rachel McAdams was so good in her recent release Send Help, I needed more of her. During my hour in need, I turned to Game Night (🌟🌟🌟🌟). The perfect decision. Consider my thirst quenched. The longer I’ve run this account, the more I’ve tried my best to avoid hyperbole. But man, I really don’t know how to avoid the following statement: Game Night is one of the funniest films of this century. A cast that couldn’t be better. A script that couldn’t be more clever. This film is drenched in jokes & physical humor, all of which is cemented over by a perfect ensemble with real chemistry. This is a near-flawless comedy. “Hold up…it actually was Denzel?” The idea here is we meet two massive trivia nerds- Max (Jason Bateman) and Annie (McAdams). Their bond is founded on a mutual love for trivia/game nights. Fast forward years after their initial chance meeting, we now see Max and Annie host a vintage game night with a few friends- and Max’s asshole older brother Brooks (Kyle Chandler.) The crux here is that Brooks hijacks the standard game night by planning a murder mystery, but what’s supposed to be just a fake/planned evening turns into a real kidnapping, in which a handful of goons are after Brooks, who we learn is basically in-debited to the mob. There are a number of undeniably hilarious “running gimmicks” that drive this story, which I found to be really thoughtful. For example- one being that Lamorne Morris and Kylie Bunbury’s characters fight over a presumed chance encounter with “Denzel Washington”. The other being the running gimmick that Jason is just slightly better looking, smarter and more successful than Max- which everyone acknowledges at every turn of the story regardless what’s unfolding. But the obvious & most brilliant gimmick this film provides is the fact that no one attending game night (other than Brooks) realizes that a real kidnapping is taking place. It’s just so smart. It’s great plot device because allows for so many one liners. The comedy is literally endless here, you don’t have a chance to catch your breath. And a lot of that is circumstantial & born out of the fact that no one at the party knows what’s actually real. Combine that level of writing with physical comedy that’s just done so well, it’s hard to watch this movie with a straight face. Sinking into this movie is effortless, as all comedies should be. Every single last actor who shows up in this film is great. Every last actor. I can’t emphasize that enough. But this movie’s secret weapon is two-fold: 1) Jesse Plemons & 2) Kyle Chandler. We know now what we didn’t really know then, when Game Night first released 8 years ago, that Plemons is a world-class, Oscar-caliber actor. There are seeds of that in this film, even in a comedy- even when he’s not on screen much. Plemons’ line-delivery is hilarious. His facial expression, or lack thereof, makes every second he’s in this movie hard to forget. Plemons is iconic in this film because he’s so captivating. Then there’s Chandler, who’s long been the back bone of so many good projects without ever receiving his due. Chandler jumps off the screen upon rewatch- he brings it. He’s hilarious when he’s making fun of his younger brother Bateman but then totally believable when he’s getting his ass kicked. When I say the physical comedy here was done well, Chandler’s a big reason. Both actors shine brightest within an excellent cast. Simply one of the funniest movies I think I’ve ever seen.

@TheDougFiles Every time I see someone say like “wow Anora really isn’t what the academy normally awards” or something it’s like, do we not remember the fish man fucks a water princess fantasy?

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) is some of Roger Deakins’ best work. You should bump it up your watchlist if you haven’t seen it yet

@vivalarevolz Everything in this is at an 11 or 12 when I think a 7 or 8 would’ve been better. Great cinematography and was happy to see Morricone win a competitive Oscar.

It’s really funny that, statistically speaking, the best role for winning an Oscar is The Joker

I’m rewatching Twin Peaks, and I’ve made it to Season 2. My biggest takeaway so far is that this show would not be the same without Angelo Badalamenti. I hear one note from his score, and I’m whisked away to Twin Peaks in a snap.
