Repeatedly inaccurate markers should get banned from marking, not just passed every time after a brief conversation because AQA are desperate for examiners 🤦🏻‍♀️ That would have the biggest impact on more accurate marking! #teamenglish

How to “mark” 28 books in 27 minutes. 1. Read them all. 2. Make notes (www, ebi, common grammar & spelling errors) as you go. 3. Type notes up on ppt slide & focus DIRT tasks on areas that need improvement. Done.

Spent a quite a bit of time today developing a single sentence based on contributions from the class. Never a particularly easy process, nor a quick one, but definitely worthwhile. It was rewarding to see the thing evolve from one iteration to the next

Next booklet up ... thanks for all your suggestions. I fundamentally believe that language papers should not be seen in Year 10. Embed the skills through the literature: develop students' ability to explore viewpoints, analyse language/structure, respond to statements etc. Then-

Been reflecting on some Twitter threads recently involving @FunkyPedagogy and the power of verbs. Struck me that Maggie O’Farrell is a MASTER at using verbs for effect, especially in ‘The Marriage Portrait’, so I’m turning to her for examples to show my Y10s 🤩

Sentence fragments and discourse markers to help guide sentence construction on extracts from ACC and AIC >> dropbox.com/s/xc70n644wumb… Three separate sentences should be constructed for each fragment, rather than all three discourse markers being combined into one!

I have found that anthology notes can be very overwhelming and that students struggle to transform this into useful/practical notes. So - I have been trialling using a summary sheet which is filled out and attached after each poem. docs.google.com/document/d/1vH…

Still having a play around with @mrwmhistory’s brilliant revision sheet format. This time I’ve been looking at essay prep for P+C poetry. I’ve attached a couple here in case anyone might find them useful. Also uses some of @SPBeale’s super ‘guided reading’ strategies: dropbox.com/sh/ee4vkvevb62… @Team_English1

Grateful for being stuck at the airport for 8h and grateful one of my Y13s recommended this! This collection of short stories was definitely a distraction 🤯
