From the team’s perspective, you have to sign a player of that talent/caliber for the price of “free”. They can’t have a scenario like last year with all the injuries; it’s essential to have the proper insurance That said, AZ is paying him $30m not to be on their team. If he was a truly good player, no way that would ever happen. This is oversimplified, obviously, but why would a new team make him the starter if he’s being paid to not start by a worse team. Then factor in the Vikings just drafted a QB in the top 10 the year before and that QB has only played 10 games, winning 6. And then on top of that(!), the head coach has famously said that teams give up on young QBs too soon. All that to say, I think it’s a smart move to add him, but I will be exceptionally disappointed if he is given the starting job immediately. The whole point of drafting a QB in the top 10 was to avoid the veteran QB carousel. If you believe in your pick, isn’t Kyler Murray the floor scenario for what you expect McCarthy to be?

BREAKING: Vikings signing QB Kyler Murray to a one-year contract. (via @rapsheet, @tompelissero)

@JasonHarmonNFL The Cardinals were also willing to pay $38 M for him to leave. Don’t you think that says more about Kyler than anything🤔

Kyler leaving Arizona to come to Minnesota will be like when Drew Brees left San Diego to go to New Orleans. Short Kings in their prime with something to prove. Wow. I just got chills. Only difference is we will earn our Super Bowl unlike the Saints did.

K1. The #Vikings have signed QB Kyler Murray. mnvkn.gs/4b4wgNi

The new Titans unis are good; very clean, can’t go wrong with a good shade of blue like that. I really love some of the secondary TN iconography and the guitar string stripe is an awesome nod to the city. But. That said, the overall vibe is a miss for me. It’s clear they wanted to keep the Oilers spirit alive, but I think they would have been better served saving the style and colors for true throwback replicas while using this refresh as an opportunity to fully embrace the Titans culture and city. Nobody has an issue with the guitar string motif in the Predators kits or the Nashville SC logo because those teams embody the city. And while I understand that the Oilers history belongs to the Titans, that era of the team belongs in Houston. Trying to blend colors and style of the Oilers with the iconography and motifs of Nashville is straddling 2 worlds and doing a disservice to both. The uniforms are good, but they ultimately feel like lesser imitations of the Oilers instead of the next evolution of the Titans.
