Actor Robert Donat was born as Friedrich Robert Donat in Withington, Manchester, on this day 1905. Best remembered for playing Richard Hannay in Alfred Hitchcock’s film 'The 39 Steps' and Mr Chips, the ageing schoolmaster in 'Goodbye Mr Chips'; for the latter he won an Oscar.

I love scam phone calls. I pretend I’m an old Yorkshire lad, desperate to pay them. My record’s an hour. I kept putting them on hold to “check my wallet,” yelling at my cat, and asking if they could speak up because my hearing aid was acting up. Then I spent 30 minutes reading my card details wrong… real slow. At one point, I told them my kitchen was on fire Great fun 😆

The meningitis outbreak in Kent is bringing back some memories. I was 19, misdiagnosed as migraine. Got to stage I couldn’t get out of bed. GP visited, asked me to sit up. My back hurt a lot. Lightbulb moment - ambulance, lumbar puncture, recovery.

Level of tuition fees were frozen from 2017 to 2024 when the Government then increased them. Today it’s increasing them for next 2 years & is using RPIX not CPI. Increasing tuition fee burden on students is wrong & associating Labour with this is a huge political mistake.
