Today in Hayes we held a community commemoration of the tragic loss of Kirandeep Kaur, a young Sikh woman brutally murdered a week ago. The Sikh community is feeling especially vulnerable & is calling for increased support from government to address the rise in attacks on Sikhs.

Joined the @pcs_union picket line at the Foreign office this morning. Threatened with job cuts the union is asking the FCDO management to get round the table & enter into serious negotiations with the union. Solidarity.

The Police are thoroughly investigating the crime & asking anyone with information to contact them on 101 quoting reference 2501/12JUL. I am pleased the Police are also engaging with community leaders, faith groups & residents to reassure & support the community.

Our whole community in Hayes has been deeply affected by the appalling murder of a young woman & stabbing of a young man last Sunday. I send my deepest sympathy & condolences to their families. The Police acted fast & a man appeared in court charged with murder & attempted murder

This is a huge victory for the Hillsborough families’ campaign & the immense work Ian Byrne has put in to get this over the line in Parliament. @IanByrneMP just refused to give in until the campaigners were satisfied with the legislation proposed. Today he has been vindicated.
