@nikk_editor Calculate how long an edit takes, then charge at least minimum wage for every hour. Charge per product though and not hourly, this way when you get faster you're not penalised for editing quicker. You should be earning more for editing faster not less.

@nikk_editor You should avoid competing on price though as a genuine rule of thumb. It's a good way to attract bad clients and burn out. It can also be counter productive because although the services are cheap it signals to a client you don't value your own services so why should they?

@StyliFilm Im totally fine charging just $10 for my edits. I know it’s below market rate, but I’m still building my client base and proving what I can do.

@venxsupreme @PhedEU It would be good if there was a way to filter the bots and copy and paste spam posts. I feel like the quantity of response can actually deter more qualified editors simply because they get lost in the sauce and it's not worth the effort.

@PhedEU This is nothing but straight facts. I had put up an editor job post recently and about 100 people applied but only like 5 of them were decent. The rest were either ChatGPT responses or below average quality in their portfolios.

If you are an editor and not making minimum $10K/month right now it's probably a skill issue You guys are a MUCH needed resource right now. Even with AI I post a hiring tweet and was looking to hire someone within an hour and prepay for like 30 videos You bombarded me with nonsense ChatGPT messages "I can create captivating content to keep your audience engaged" The "better" DMs had portfolio links, but 99% of them were just shorts with captions on top of a talking head video (takes 45 seconds to edit) The bar has never been lower. Being competent/acting like a real human automatically puts you in the top 1%

@PhedEU People aren't specific enough in their proposals either. Where are the metrics? Their videos keep you engaged but for how long? How many people? Buzz words mean next to nothing and they're so overused.

I think something a lot of newer edits don't get is that complexity doesn't always = a good edit. Sometimes more is less. A good edit isn't always impressive, a good edit simply achieved the result it was intended to achieve.

@WORLDWIDERS1 It depends on what type of content it is. A basic cut with some text could be as low as $5-$10. Motion graphics etc could go up to $100 if the quality is crazy.

@JakeHigley53 I don't think US Vs offshore matters too deeply. You just want to make sure the editor knows the when and why and not just the how. Too many editors edit to impress rather than edit for results. Ideally look for someone who has experience with social algorithms and gets results
