FINAL: No. 2 Kasson-Mantorville 31, No. 1 Byron 28 What an effort from the KoMets, who once trailed 21-3. Now they are heading back to state for the first time since 2021

Wonderful day of learning and laughter. Numerous compliments on these kids and it’s no surprise. Character matters and this group has shined thus far.

Getting to travel with this Waukon, IA legend is always a treat. It’s bittersweet this year as it’s our last trip together. Thanks for all the laughs and support Mike!

Grand Meadow holds a special place in Minnesota girls basketball history as the first high school dynasty more than 40 years before Title IX. Now Superlarks graduate @jordynglynn has made some history of her own at the University of St. Thomas. The 5th-year senior is the last remaining member of the team from the Division III era. This weekend in Sioux Falls her standout @TommieWBBall career will come to a conclusion at @TheSummitLeague Tournament. “I’m definitely excited,” Glynn said. “Going into last year’s tournament I also thought it was my last time. I wasn’t planning on coming back. I’m just embracing the moment and getting to cherish it with my teammates.” Glynn’s story wouldn’t be quite so special if she had just hung onto a roster spot to say she had competed in the D1 era. Instead, the 5’9 guard has been an integral part of the building process. This year she has started in every game and averaged nearly 29 minutes on the floor. Beyond the statistics, Glynn is the consummate leader. “She has been just incredible through it all,” said Tommies coach Ruth Sinn. “She’s always been about ‘How do I serve my team? How do I connect with these people?’ She has been phenomenal off the court. On the court she has been a big part of our success. She is one of those people that other players look at to provide that energy, to provide that spark.” The 5th-seeded Tommies will need all the spark they can get Sunday at 12:30 pm when they face #4 @SDCoyotesWBB. Regardless of the outcome, Glynn is determined to enjoy one final ride. “I’m very grateful for the opportunity,” she said. “I wasn’t expecting to come back and I’m really happy that I did.” @CoachSinn is well aware of the history of @GMGirlsHoops in Grand Meadow, where they had a remarkable 10-year run that began in 1929. At the 2019 @mgbca All-Star game in Northfield, Jordyn walked onto the court for the final time as a high school player accompanied by her 100-year old great aunt Beulah Ankney, who was on those historic teams. “I think it’s kind of appropriate,” Sinn said, “that Jordyn is a pioneer in her own right.” #SummitWBB @MidcoSports

If you had Jordyn Glynn scoring the first basket of 2023-24, you were right! Tommies and Bulldogs tied 6-6 with 5:43 left in the first quarter #RollToms
