You get server hosting and management, a very large audience, marketing tools and a whole engine completely for free do you know how crazy that is? It would be completely fair for roblox to paid because there's no other platform that offers all this for completely free

@fluteflies this makes no sense bc an adult can pay that subscription and STILL make spam games (prime example are steal a baddie copies). This just makes it more difficult for talented, skilled kids from creating a game. It takes away that freedom and makes 'Powering imagination' impossible

@Vampire_EGirl you need id verification to even devex, so your idea of most devs not doing id verification is just wrong, added to the fact that you already need to pay to have a successful game for adverising assets and devs this is just an extra 5$ to the cost

This is bad for:
The player base (New, good games will stop coming out)
Developers (Most don’t wanna use their ID AND don’t wanna fork over cash just to publish a game)
Investors (Players will quit/spend less robux on the platform, meaning less returns on their investments)

Roblox is changing the eligibility to upload games on the platform. To publish for all ages, you now need: - Roblox Plus; - ID Verification & Age Check; - 2-Step Verification enabled; - and have your account in "good standing". Roblox will additionally run games through trials to ensure engagement is legitimate and not from fake or bot accounts. To publish for Ages 16+ & Trusted Friends, you now need: - An account in "good standing"; - An age check; and - An account that is at least 2 days old. Any user on the platform, whether they meet any of the requirements, can still publish games for personal use. Roblox is stating they chose this requirements because "most creators already meet many of the criteria" and it will "make it more difficult for bad actors to bypass our moderation systems". Lastly, Roblox will make that transition by providing 100,000 users with a Free Roblox Plus subscription for 6 months. To be eligible, a user may have a minimum of 100 hours of total playtime on their game in the past month & no major violations of Roblox's Community Standards.
