Insulin resistance is not a fixed state. It’s dynamic. Most people think insulin resistance is something you either have or don’t have. But physiology doesn’t work in binaries. Your insulin sensitivity changes, throughout the day, and day to day. In the morning, many people experience higher glucose levels due to the dawn effect, driven by cortisol and hepatic glucose output. The same meal that spikes your glucose at breakfast might be handled much better in the afternoon. After a walk or resistance training, your muscles become more insulin sensitive. The exact same carbs may now be utilized efficiently instead of circulating in the blood. Poor sleep? Stress? Inflammation? Sedentary behavior? All of these can temporarily increase insulin resistance—even in someone who is otherwise metabolically healthy. On the other hand: Movement Nutrient-dense meals Good sleep Circadian alignment …can improve insulin sensitivity within hours. This is why single glucose readings can be misleading. And this is why context matters more than isolated numbers. Your body is constantly adapting. The goal is not perfection, it’s creating an internal environment where your cells feel “safe” to respond to insulin. Because when the system feels safe, fuel is used efficiently.

Why I Chose Experimental Nuclear Physics:- The Hard Way During my PhD, when I chose nuclear physics, my supervisor told me something very clearly: “Experimental nuclear physics is tough. Women generally choose theoretical physics. It’s easier, faster, and requires less physical effort.” He even suggested I choose another guide. Because experimental physics is not comfortable. It means: •Planning experiments from scratch •Preparing the experimental hall weeks in advance •Fabricating and preparing targets, sometimes taking months •Collecting data day and night for a week or more •Analysing data for a year •Writing a paper for another year •Waiting 6–12 months for publication One publication can take years. There are sleepless nights. There is physical exhaustion. There is uncertainty. Sometimes experiments fail. Sometimes everything has to be repeated. That is why experimental physics takes 5–6 years. And I chose it anyway. Not because it was easy. But because it wasn’t. I never wanted knowledge that comes quickly. I wanted depth. I wanted to see all colours of reality, not depend on a single theory. Theorists build models. Experimentalists test reality. And often, experimentalists generate the data that forces new theories to emerge. Everything I have achieved today, my clarity, my depth of understanding, my instinct to question and explore, was built in those years of difficulty. I am deeply grateful to my PhD supervisor, who shaped me through rigor and discipline. He always introduced me proudly as “my student.” I never let him down. Wherever I presented our work, people remembered us, not just for what we did, but for how we explained it, how we made others truly understand. And now after switching to metabolic health field, because of the data and opportunity given to me by Shashikant Iyengar (@shashiiyengar) I could once again use my experimental abilities and contribute to publishing an original research paper. That publication is not just a paper, it opens pathways for others to explore further. What matters is not who publishes. What matters is that real data reaches the scientific community. Interestingly, after our publication, even people who once believed that publishing data was unnecessary have begun showing enthusiasm toward contributing their work. That is the real impact, inspiring a culture of scientific contribution. We want more research. More data. More courage to publish. Because science grows when evidence is shared, not when it is hidden. Experimental science is not about shortcuts. It is about patience, resilience, and contributing something real to the world. frontiersin.org/journals/nutri…
