@latinamilenial @herbrolo7 So if focusing on people being trans had worse results for improvement, and focusing on other stuff had improvement, why do you push back so hard on people being trans in private?

Being trans sucks. Transitioning isn't ideal and it will never remove gender dysphoria completely. No meds will give me my childhood back or fix how horrible society is. But I'm glad I did it. I wish I didn't have to struggle, but I'm finally able to live as my authentic self.

Like obviously the skill and education is there since the plane is being flown, but there's a disconnect from objectivity

I don't understand why you're pushing back too hard rather than objectively challenging it if you're so certain you're right. Clearly you're not afraid to speak your beliefs so this can't be about your job

@latinamilenial @jbvconnor You'd think you'd understand this better than me if you studied stuff like this in school. I have so much to learn about psychology as a whole, which is why I've tried understanding what gender is from a more professional and educated view.

@latinamilenial @herbrolo7 That doesn't sound very objective for a psychotherapist. I don't have reason to believe you're lying, but you'd think you'd have studies and research to point to performed in response of recent studies on the subject rather than keep quiet about it.

@SweetMoonTune @herbrolo7 I’m a psychotherapist. I’ve watched your movement manipulate our field. Many of us don't buy the narrative but keep quiet to avoid legal trouble or losing our jobs. If a patient identifies as trans, I just say "ok" and skip it. After all, trans is "healthy"

@krice13 @latinamilenial @jbvconnor Gender isn't sex as gender identity refers to your internal sense of self and lived experiences, while gender expression is how you express it and present yourself. There can be incongruences that are affected by your sex characteristics, but that's not them being the same thing

@latinamilenial @jbvconnor Objectively speaking, one is neither born in a right nor wrong body. Your body is what it is, be it typical or atypical from others. Your gender forms around age 3, based on many factors. One can notice incongruences with their gender as they mature.

@latinamilenial @jbvconnor The understanding grew over time, like many other things we study. One's distress caused by experienced incongruences is not a requirement to be trans. Resolving gender dysphoria with affirming care does not change the differences between sex and gender.

@herbrolo7 I was referring to scientific consensus, since psychology is a field of science and isn't conflicting with biology. Psychology recognizes sex and gender are different things.

@tymprqv7r9 I'm not sure what you want me to do with that. Repeating your stance doesn't really change anything. It doesn't affect my existence or life. It doesn't even affect the differences between sex and gender. Are we supposed to go back and forth? Am I supposed to get mad or sad??
