STRAIT OF HORMUZ TRAFFIC COLLAPSES AS OPENING CLAIMS UNRAVEL
Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has dropped to a near standstill after brief claims it had reopened quickly fell apart.
Iranian and US statements over the weekend suggested the key oil route was open, triggering a rush of tankers and a sharp drop in oil prices. But Tehran then reversed course, reinstating restrictions amid ongoing tensions and naval activity.
Only a handful of oil and gas vessels have since transited the strait, with shipping routes narrowing and movement becoming irregular and hard to track.
The volatility has revived market fears over global energy supply disruptions, with oil and gas prices rebounding after the initial optimism faded.
