Navigating fatherhood the best way I know how: by a series of polyhedral dice rolls with convoluted modifiers. Talk D&D to me.

Question for a supplement I am working on: Does #dnd5e have a rule about Intelligence for mounts? #a5e says mounts must have an Int of 4 or lower, but I can't find a similar rule for base D&D.

@WizardsRespite All too common, sadly! I would still like to play Ward some more, a hexblade/stone sorceror gish. Fun combo. We had to tweak the sorc because it was UA, but made it work. Still want some of the features from that UA to make it into a class!

Sadly, #RPG campaigns don't always conclude. Sometimes tables fall apart, scheduling issues become insurmountable, somebody makes it awkward. And you can't finish out that character arc. Who's the character that you never got to run through all the way to the end? #dnd

I’ve hit my limit. I need to share something that’s been weighing heavily on me. I've played in a DOZEN TTRPGs lately, and I can say with certainty that every single one was driven by an AI-written narrative. And you know what? It was glaringly obvious. The soul was just… gone. This isn't some "new tech is scary" rant. I've been in this hobby since 1979. My family has been in the business since the early 70s. I own an FLGS. I'm a published author. This hobby is my life. For nearly 30 years, I've poured my heart and soul into the same campaign world. It's a living tapestry woven with my players, filled with history, mistakes, triumphs, and inside jokes that no machine could ever replicate. We built that. Together. What I'm seeing now is the opposite of building. It's soulless generation. I use AI myself—as a sounding board, an editor. It’s a tool, not the artisan. But to see the core of our hobby handed over to an algorithm feels like a profound loss. It's like replacing a home-cooked meal with a nutrient paste. It might fill you up, but it will never nourish you. To all the GMs out there: I'm begging you. Don't let your creativity be outsourced. The heart of this hobby is human connection, shared imagination, the beautiful, messy, unpredictable spark that happens between people. It’s not a string of perfectly bland, algorithmically generated prompts. Your players deserve your story. Not a soulless echo. Let's champion the GMs who pour their passion into their worlds and the players who bring them to life. Our stories are worth more than that. #TTRPG #TTRPGCommunity #DND #GMLife #TabletopGames #HumanCreativity #KeepItHuman #Storytelling

The holiday blues have been kicking me in the head, so I figured this show might help. I think it is. It's on Apple+.

Just to add some fun additional detail, Arawn's army contained, amongst others, a giant black toad with a hundred claws, a serpent with the souls of a hundred dead crawling over its body, and a monstrous hundred-headed beast so large that whole battles were fought underneath its tongues and inside its eye sockets!

In Welsh mythology, Amaethon was the god of agriculture, husbandry, luck and male fertility. Son of the goddess Dôn. He is cited as being responsible for the Cad Goddeu, or "Battle of Trees", between the lord of the otherworld, Arawn, and the Children of Dôn. Arawn sent his army to get his possessions back from Amaethon. Amaethon's brother, Gwydion (Welsh god of magic) animated the trees of the forest to help against Arawn. In the end, Amaethon's tree army defeated Arawn's forces. 🎨 Petar Meseldzija

In English folklore, Herne the Hunter is a ghost associated with Windsor Forest and Great Park in the English county of Berkshire. Though Herne may have been an actual keeper of the forest, he is probably a local manifestation of the Wild Huntsman myth known throughout the world. The usual story associated with the Wild Hunt involves someone excessively fond of the chase who makes a rash pledge or compact with a stranger (the devil) and is thus doomed to hunt forever. Herne is said to ride at night, especially during storms, have antlers growing from his head, blasts trees and cattle, and occasionally appears to mortals.  🎨Herne with his steed, hounds and owl, observed by the Duke of Richmond and the Earl of Surrey, in Harrison Ainsworth's Windsor Castle, illustrated by George Cruikshank, c. 1843

After I complete my 100 TTRPG tips of the day here, I'm going to be shutting down and moving to other sites to stay connected. If you are already moving to those other spaces, be sure to reach out and let me know you're there.

Today’s reminder to all adventurers! You’re stronger than you know, braver than you believe, and more creative than any dice can determine. Keep building worlds, weaving stories, and rolling with those 20s. Whether you're a paladin or a rogue, you bring magic to every table!
