Why would Mark Carney want Marilyn Gladu in his caucus? 🇨🇦🤔 A few possible reasons: • She represents Sarnia–Lambton, home to Chemical Valley. Canada’s largest petrochemical cluster. That brings real industrial and energy-sector credibility. ⚡🛢️ • She’s a chemical engineer with decades in the energy sector 🧪🔧 — useful when talking about industrial decarbonization, hydrogen, and the energy transition 🌱⚡. • Signals Liberals can attract Conservatives from traditionally blue ridings 🔵➡️🔴. • Politically, every additional MP strengthens a governing caucus 🏛️. Achievements & contributions: 🏆 - Introduced national framework for palliative care (Bill C-277) ❤️⚕️ - Proposed Pension Protection Act (Bill C-228) 💼💰 - Chaired Status of Women committee, advocated for STEM & trades 👩‍🔬🔧 - 21 years at Dow Chemical; Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineers 🏗️👷‍♀️ - Promoted regional economic development & clean-tech initiatives 🌱🏭 In short: energy expertise, regional credibility, legislative accomplishments, and political optics. 💡📊 #SarniaLambton #ChemicalValley #MarilynGladu #MarkCarney #EnergyTransition #Politics #CanadianPolitics #STEM #PalliativeCare #PensionProtection

Poilievre became CPC leader in the wake of Covid lockdowns and Trudeau's historic authoritarian crackdown on the Trucker Convoy. The organic surge in right wing populism that came with this was expertly squandered by Poilievre and his team over the next 4 years. Chefs kiss 🤌

Indeed. The NDP has been introducing legislation for 20 years to require floor crossers to put their decision to the test of their voters - where it belongs. Both Cons and Libs voted no. Glad to see the Cons now agree.
John Ivison@IvisonJ

This is all very commendable - except @PierrePoilievre voted against legislation that would have obliged floor-crossers to seek endorsement under their new party banner in a by-election.

@QueenOfLaundry @mario4thenorth @MarilynGladuSL Because it’s true and you’re realizing that for the first time. These are not my opinions, they all happened. To deny them is to deny reality…easier path and I get it you have to or your world view might collapse

@Jibear @Bill1780661 @SpencerFernando What would be the risk if they did? Pros: representative democracy Cons: limits MPs freedom to keep their job under a different banner. Who does the MP work for?

Were Canada to ban floor crossing, we would be suppressing the individual minds of those we elect, and further concentrating power in party leaders. As things stand now, floor crossing protects independence and keeps pressure on leaders to treat their colleagues well lest they watch those colleagues head elsewhere. Floor crossing – and the threat of it – protects us from a system where those we elect turn into mindless drones serving nothing more than the centralized will of ‘the leader.’ So, whether you agree with Gladu’s decision or not, it is essential to protect the right of MPs to cross the floor. The individual mind is the most precious resource we have.

BREAKING: There are reports that up to NINE MORE Conservative MPs will soon be crossing the aisle to Mark Carney's Liberal Party. The Conservative Party is irrelevant now. And will become less relevant in the upcoming weeks and months!

The by-election thing is a really interesting thought experiment to me. The liberals could run an election right now and clearly get a majority based on polling. They could probably get it through by-elections as well. So... should they, just because they can? Maybe it is more respectful of the spirit of democracy. But... do we need to spend millions or billions on elections for them to end up with the same result? Ironically, they are taking the fiscally conservative approach to accomplishing the same result.
Mario Zelaya@mario4thenorth

🚨 BREAKING THREE MONTHS AGO, Marilyn Gladu signed a petition saying MPs who cross the floor should be FORCED into an immediate by-election. Today, she crossed the floor to the Liberals. Sarnia-Lambton gave her 40,365 votes as a Conservative. 53.3% of the riding. A nearly 12,000 vote margin over the Liberal. By her OWN standard from January, she should be calling the by-election right now. This is past the point of hypocrisy. This is fraud.

This is a mistake. Marilyn Gladu does not reflect the values the Liberal Party of Canada should uphold. Like many progressive Liberals, I am outraged that someone with such conflicting views and a record of bigotry is being welcomed into the party with open arms. #cdnpoli
Mark Carney@MarkJCarney

At this important moment for our country’s future, Canadians with a broad range of experience and perspectives are uniting to build Canada strong. I am honoured to welcome Marilyn Gladu today as the newest member of this government and our Liberal caucus. In a time of global economic uncertainty, Canada’s success will depend on how we build ambition into progress and strengths into sustained advantage. Marilyn brings the practical, results-driven leadership this effort demands. Having spent decades of her career in engineering and international business, she understands what it takes to create good jobs, strengthen supply chains, and ensure Canadian industry can compete in a rapidly changing global economy. She has been elected by the people of Sarnia—Lambton–Bkejwanong in four straight elections since 2015, and repeatedly earned recognition from colleagues across Parliament for her proven willingness to work constructively across party lines. I’m looking forward to working closely with Marilyn to build a stronger and more independent Canadian economy, meeting the challenges of a changing world with lasting opportunities for all.

@bruceanderson @MarkJCarney Gladu is an anti-vaxxer, anti-abortionist, "freedom convoy" sympathizer, "conversion therapy" proponent, and climate change denier from Ontario's oil patch. She must be at least required to disavow her previous words and actions publicly.

@SpencerFernando No you should want MPs to represent the taxpayers who voted for them. Government works for the people, if she believed this was the consensus of her constituents. It would be easily sorted with a byelection. You’d be calling Pierre a fascist if roles were reversed.

@TalkingwithTom @missey_em @JimmyDunphy1 @DanielTyrie Arguing with liberals is lime talking to a wall, you've got a better chance at curing cancer than opening their eyes. Truthfully, they themselves can't even name ONE thing carney did, and they turn a blind eye to what he actually did, which is bankrupting canada like the UK.
