My favorite thing about the VT NIT saga in the fan base is that the same fans talking about how sick they were of watching the team underperform are the ones loudest with their anger about VT skipping the NIT 😂

MD well said. You guys were always about the program and the process of building a culture and identity. People forget that 5 year period we were the 3rd winningest program in the @theACC You guys poured your hearts and souls into the program. Love you guys

Remember sr year after getting snubbed and our sr class going into @SethOnHoops office telling him we wanted to pass on the NIT. He didn’t force us to do anything but told us that we put on too much work as a class to walk away like that and it was a group of guys following us ready to take over the keys and it was bigger than us. As much as I didn’t want to play we found a way to. Can’t say I loved it but it was bigger than us. College basketball is more about the players not the programs now. 🤷🏽

Two years ago today at the ACC Tournament, #Hokies coach Mike Young said he’d never be “too big for my pants” as to decline an NIT bid. Either he and/or his players feel differently this season.

@HokiesMBB This disappoints me, as it puts us on the level of a certain football team who declined their bowl bid this past winter. It also sets a precedent from which we may not recover. 😔
