A major issue with the theory that we can awaken new class consciousness in the anti-Democratic-party white working class is that the theory falsely assumes this group doesn't already have class consciousness. They do. They hate college-educated people. Intensely.

The number of times I’ve tried to express this and Magdi just lays it out flat. These people absolutely have class consciousness, but they view Leftism as a project to replace the boss who pays them good money with a Leftist who is going to give them peanuts and take even more of the pie. And for good reason! Boss-worship in America is a very real phenomenon. And most Americans view themselves as being upwardly mobile or at least potentially so. People are receptive to a stronger social safety net but they’re less receptive to the idea that the upper class should be limited to a select group of leftist academics and activists.

@RoninJoey Couldn't agree more. And she hasn't learned. That Platner endorsement was dumb. She should do what she does best. The national stage is over. I'd like to see her in a cabinet position. Just doing the work, not trying to draw a crowd or some loser podcasters ' attention

I think she made a few big mistakes, ones AOC is poised to repeat: She listened to the wrong people. The PodBros were pushing her as inevitable for ages. She genuinely thought into the idea that it was a woman’s time but Hillay was too corporate conservative. She thought she could serve as the bridge between the Bernie wing and mainstream. She failed to anticipate just how sexist the Bernie bros are and that it’s fundamentally a personality cult. She never had a shot in hell of pulling those people off meaningfully enough. She bought her own hype.
