Appreciating the legacy of Walter and Leonore Annenberg who gave away two billion dollars so you can listen to me blather about technology. Not official.

@khadastrophic Didn’t Jimmy Carter write this same exact book and win a Nobel peace prize?

I am still processing why a white man on morning television wondering aloud about stripping a Black man of his accomplishments and source of income felt so threatening. I do know the issue with this interview was more than just tone.
Brian Stelter@brianstelter

CBS News executives say last week's heated morning show interview with acclaimed author Ta-Nehisi Coates, during which his new book was compared to "extremist" writings, did not meet the network's editorial standards. Story w/ @Hadas_Gold >>> cnn.com/2024/10/07/med…

This is how you do it, folks, one of the best and the brightest, kindest and most compassionate who has ever come through Annenberg. And he came through with joy, with concern, and with power & leaves to do good.

It’s super weird watching Grad Student Twitter which is all like “just got maced, leg broken, here’s my bail fund” and Administrative Twitter which is all like “proud to announce Gumblethorp hall won the tasters award for best new wallpaper” all on my timeline at once.

@gingasvr Agree. Makes no sense. I have zero desire to have 4 conversation options with a bartender.

The people getting mad at Ai mods for Skyrim and Fallout have no ground to stand on imo. 1) the normal vanilla dialogue for Bethesda games are complete nonsensical trash, the stories are basic and predictable. The only exception is Fallout:NV which was Not made by Bethesda. At least the Ai dialogue makes the game semi interesting 2) people seem to think it’s “taking away jobs” from VAs. These are 10+ year old games with mods made by the community in their free time.. and releasing it for free, nobody is making any $ from the Ai mods 🤦‍♀️ 3) saying “it’s trash doesn’t add anything” is objectively false. You can ask NPCs for directions, how their day is going, what they think of another NPC, how to do quests etc. it literally adds so much life to the game it’s scary #vr #ai

@gingasvr It's true. I blame Facebook for trying to shoehorn developers into types of experiences. So many of the innovative things from 3-6 years ago aren't even supported anymore.

Just my opinion, but the VR industry has slowed down pretty significantly, there’s absolutely less interest than there was before. If you’re a content creator just doing VR stuff or doing 1 game? I don’t know if there’s really growth in that right now. That’s why I branched out to Ai stuff awhile back, you have to constantly be hopping on new trends
