We wrote about this last month after he made this claim during his State of the Union address. You can read that here: factcheck.org/2026/02/factch… The president repeated the claim last week in a speech in Kentucky.

I was recently interviewed for the Stats and Stories podcast @statsandstories by the American Statistical Association about vaccine skepticism, misinformation, and the challenges of scientific communication. Part 1 of the interview is now available. In it, we discuss the development of the COVID-19 vaccines through Operation Warp Speed, the difficulties scientists and public health officials faced in communicating uncertainties and limitations, the role of social media in the propagation of misinformation, and the broader challenge the public faces in interpreting scientific evidence. In particular, we discuss how seemingly straightforward interpretations of observational data can appear intuitive but may actually lead to conclusions that are the opposite of what the data truly imply. Part 2, which will cover additional contemporary topics related to vaccines, including vaccine safety, will be released in the coming weeks. @UPennDBEI @upenn @PennMedCSO @statsandstories

Americans are losing confidence in the nation’s public health agencies, according to a survey from @APPCPenn. @NBCNews reports that the survey, conducted by SSRS, found a majority of Americans say they have more confidence in their own doctors, pediatricians & career scientists at federal agencies than the political appointees charged with overseeing those scientists. nbcnews.com/health/health-…
