TRUMP ON TRUTH SOCIAL: Massive numbers of completely empty oil tankers, some of the largest anywhere in the World, are heading, right now, to the United States to load up with the best and “sweetest” oil (and gas!) anywhere in the World. We have more oil than the next two largest oil economies combined - and higher quality. We are waiting for you. Quick turnaround! President DJT

@RpsAgainstTrump @Thomasstjames3 People need to realize that both Trump and the Iranians are bullshitting a bit on what they achieved. That’s posturing and face saving in action. Quit taking Irans claims as fact and Trumps as only fiction. The truth is in the middle somewhere.

So what did we actually achieve from this war? Iran still has enriched uranium, most of its ballistic missiles, the regime is still in power, and now it’s shown it can control the Strait of Hormuz, which it didn’t have before. And it still supports terrorism across the Middle East. What am I missing?

It’s gonna get real interesting, folks! Iran to OPEC, if Tehran actually gets its 10-point demands from Trump and maintains effective control over the Strait of Hormuz

The conditions the regime claims Trump has accepted: (Read with laughter) • Commitment by the United States and Israel to "non-aggression" once again • Continuation of the I.R.'s control over the Strait of Hormuz • Acceptance of enrichment • Lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions • Termination of all Security Council and Board of Governors resolutions • Release of blocked assets • Payment of war reparations • Withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from the region • Cessation of war on all fronts, including against Hezbollah in Lebanon • Approval of all the above in a binding Security Council resolution Please aggressively take profits in your longs. I refuse to believe this is true.

@mlathrop3 @GasBuddyGuy I think the other thing we need to remember is Iran MINED the straight. They have to manage that piece of the puzzle first, lest a tanker get blown to bits. So I don’t expect an opening overnight.

Trump once again declaring a “ceasefire” that Iran supposedly agreed to should be taken with a heavy dose of skepticism. This has become a pattern: set a deadline, apply maximum pressure, declare progress- and then watch as Iran largely ignores it. The administration’s approach leans heavily on brute-force, strongarm tactics, but Iran has very little incentive to play along on those terms. From Iran's perspective, time is on their side. They can continue to sow chaos indirectly- through threats and attacks in the Strait, proxies, regional pressure, and strategic ambiguity- without ever fully engaging on U.S. timelines. Meanwhile, each new deadline from Washington risks looking less credible when it passes without meaningful change. At some point, you have to ask whether repeating the same playbook is actually strategy, or just inertia. If the goal is a durable outcome, relying on pressure alone- without offering a framework Iran sees as worth accepting- may simply prolong the cycle rather than break it.

@DubCJunior @GasBuddyGuy I have to disagree with your sentiment here. Patrick has always been neutral and is speaking from a place of knowledge. He’s right to be skeptical of what is surely a fragile framework. That certainly doesnt make him a leftist.

Another two week "ceasefire" from Trump- but Iran is highly unlikely to simply "reopen the Strait". Another two weeks of status quo and barely anything getting through the Strait, which is likely to continue to push oil, gasoline, diesel and jet fuel prices higher yet

This is what we need clarity on. Iran agreeing to this ceasefire would need a concession. Agreeing to open up the Strait (if they do) would require an even bigger concession. Trump claims none. Iran claims all their terms accepted for end to war. We have no clue what the real line is.

@MichaelPBento You act like opening the straight is a major thing. It isn’t. They just need to not fire missiles at ships. If things don’t go their way, they just close the straight by firing missiles again. It’s not a high effort endeavor on Iran’s part to hit the pause button.

Wait wait wait wait. So Iran hasn't agreed to anything yet and this 2 week ceasefire is conditional to an immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which one can assume means toll-free by the use of the word "complete". Ok soooooo this bascially just bought an excuse, because now if they don't reopen the Strait he can send in the ground invasion he was planning anyway but he can spin it as Iran did not agree to the conditions. I don't see why Iran would agree to it, they might, but logically and tactically I would be surprised if they did as it is their only piece of leverage here regarding this war. Let's see how the night progresses. Tomorrow may end up being a gap and trap if Iran doesn't agree to reopen the strait.

@MidtownCoffee @GasBuddyGuy Iran is indicating engagement with this ceasefire, as is Israel. Prior to today’s announcement, they would flat out deny what Trump was saying. That’s not happening here.

@GasBuddyGuy I don’t disagree…but all they have to do to “open” the strait is not launch missiles and drones. If they want to close it again, they can just revert back to their previous posture.
