Something that has been interesting for me since the war between Israel + Iran began, is seeing how little even those who oppose the regime and its proxies actually know about the extent of the crimes they’ve committed in other countries. For example, the Syrian civil war:
I am at a loss over how many unironic posts I’ve read from people who claim to be opposed to Hezbollah, in response to this idea that Syria is going to invade them (it isn’t), saying things like: “at the very least, 1 thing we should appreciate is the fact that Hezbollah doesn’t rape civilians or randomly gun people down”. Oh, sweet child… do I have news for you…
Hezbollah didn’t just stop at indiscriminate massacres and starvation sieges in Syria. They used rape as a ‘weapon of war’ throughout the entirety of the civil war, just like other militias. Not even young girls or boys were spared. Hezbollah was responsible for (+ actively engaged in) the kidnapping + selling of Syrian civilians into human trafficking and forced sex slavery… where the hell have you been??

The flaw in that argument is simple: the problem already exists.
An entire generation of terrorists has already been created, armed, and trained by the ayatollahs and the IRGC. Hezbollah, the Houthis, Iraqi militias, Hamas .. this infrastructure wasn’t born out of a major war. It was built deliberately, over decades, in relative calm.
Hundreds of thousands of fighters - over 700,000 by some estimates - didn’t just appear overnight. They were cultivated.
So the idea that confronting the problem now will somehow “create more of it” misses the point entirely.
That’s like arguing you shouldn’t deal with a rat infestation because it might lead to more rats.
The infestation is already there.

I live in Eindhoven, ASML town. Heard this from folks inside... Over the years ASML promoted a lot of strong EUV people into architect roles, group leads, management tracks. Built up serious layers. Classic growth pain. Then McKinsey comes in , says cut the management layers to speed things up. So now those same high performers, real good EUV experts, who got promoted are the ones on the block. About 3400 roles targeted, mostly management. Half will be reassigned, rest gone. Big hit in Veldhoven/Eindhoven area (~1400), some in US. Unncertainty is high, unions talking, details probably land around April. At the same time, ASML is still planning massive growth. The new campus near the airport just got final green light from city council. Construction starts soon, phased build-out. Long term they talk ~20,000 new jobs in the region (first wave ~5k by 2028). And the layoff packages are subpar. Philips is also based in the same town. And they had layoffs due to serious financial issues last year. Their layoff packages were much better than what ASML is offering. What a way to kill tje company culture. Especially at a time when the company is printing money.
