Very pleased to announce that my latest book, 'A NEW AXIS OF UPHEAVAL: North Korea, Russia, China, Iran' will be published by @HurstPublishers later this year. Amidst global geopolitical turbulence, there is no better time than the present to understand these dynamics.

Perfect analysis. I grew up not seeing Charles in a favorable light. Have to admit, no one in the world has so masterfully demonstrated how to communicate and manage a relationship effectively with President Trump. Solid points made for both countries and a shared civilization, subtly yet seriously, with the right touch of humor.

‘Such a skilful diplomat, it was a masterclass.’ Constitutional Expert Sir Michael Ellis praises King Charles’ powerful and ‘impressive’ speeches and analyses his relationship with US President Donald Trump. 📺 Freeview 236, Sky 512, Virgin 604

An excellent piece by @junghpak1. “Washington must reckon with the new geostrategic landscape because however Kim chooses to advance his goals—through diplomatic or military means or a combination of both—what happens on the Korean Peninsula won’t stay on the Korean Peninsula.” 2026 is not 2018 or 2019—it is time to take the North Korea, Russia, and China threat seriously.
Foreign Affairs@ForeignAffairs

“In the past, Washington has been able to work with Beijing and Moscow, albeit to a limited extent, to restrain Pyongyang and prevent a military confrontation,” writes @junghpak1. “But today, the North Korea challenge is both more formidable and more durable.” fam.ag/4vWVDZU

@Mister_G_2 Indeed. One can go back to the Six-Party Talks in which Beijing acted as a "mediator", and look at the results post-19 September 2005.

An excellent piece by @VictorDCha @CSISKoreaChair. Trump 2.0 is not the same as Trump 1.0, all the while Pyongyang’s nuclear arsenal has grown in scope and sophistication. Whilst denuclearisation should not be abandoned as a policy goal, it is indeed time to think realistically about how to deal with a nuclear North Korea.
CSIS Korea Chair@CSISKoreaChair

New from @VictorDCha in @ForeignAffairs, out today: the case for a cold peace with North Korea. Three decades. Seven U.S. presidents. The denuclearization framework has failed — and the arsenal has only grown. Dr. Cha argues it's time for a new strategy. 🧵 Read here: foreignaffairs.com/north-korea/no…

@isaacstonefish Sharing greater responsibility sounds good, but when Beijing is engaging in economic coercion and actively worsening “geopolitical risks”, the question one must ask is: quo vadis?

One of the worst deliveries by a truly incompetent Prime Minister. The time has come to resign.

Last week, I celebrated 42 wonderful years of marriage to my amazing wife DeeAnn. Since we met skydiving in college, it’s been one adventure after another, including 3 kids, 4 grandkids, and most recently, driving a dog sled team north of the Arctic Circle.

Strong rumour that Mandelson failed vetting because of his China links. Frankly it would have been astonishing if he’d have cleared it. Public domain stuff damning enough. No secret info needed. Here’s a *JAN 25* Telegraph front page on our dossier. telegraph.co.uk/world-news/202…

Indeed. If we are in a new Cold War—which the Labour Strategic Defence Review outlined—then we should behave as if we are in one. As for the signalling to our allies and, too, our adversaries, well…
Lisa Haseldine@lisahaseldine

Sorry but this is laughable. £2.5bn a year doesn’t even touch the sides of the defence budget. That’s not even treading water when you consider the £28bn black hole that already exists. 5% spending by 2035? Not a chance.

Hear, hear. If there is one thing Mr Bercow needs to hear with respect to his thinking that he has any influence or that his words carry any weight, it is thus: “Mate, you are deluded. In political terms, you are off your chump! You haven’t got a clue. It’s not going to happen.”
Jonathan Eyal@JEyal_RUSI

Mr Bercow, the only Speaker in 200 years to be denied a place in the House of Lords, still seems to subscribe to the odd belief that anyone is interested in what he has to say
