The Commanders announced they have signed S Jeremy Reaves to an extension, keeping him around through the 2027 season.

The Commanders have added players at each level of the defense: two edge defenders, a tackle, one linebacker, one corner and now a safety. The defense ranked 27th in scoring and 32nd in yards last season. Finding upgrades were paramount. A common theme: youth, athleticism.

Perhaps the craziest part of free agency — from a Commanders' perspective — is that none of their external free agents have signed elsewhere, and only one has returned. I would think there's a good chance that Jeremy McNichols re-signs. Bill is the only RB right now.

With the new league year set to begin today, the #49ers plan to release WR Brandon Aiyuk. Could happen as soon as today, but certainly soon. Washington is the most likely landing spot for Aiyuk, probably on a one-year prove it deal. SF is expected to use post June 1 designation, which is why they had to wait until new league year begins. Dead cap numbers, per OverTheCap: 2026 - $13.325 million 2027 - $21.247 million SF will also get a credit of $4.987 million toward the 2027 cap. The Niners, of course, will save significant amounts in future years by getting Aiyuk off the books.
