@AbolishWestmin @cathy_owens 👆Spot on. Reality is outside Cardiff there will be very few Green MSs if any. They are very unlikely to get any seats in North Wales yet tens of thousands will vote for them. If those same votes went to Plaid they would pick up seats probably at the expense of Tories or Reform.

@cathy_owens With the new system, parties need around 12% to get elected, so this message isn’t misleading. The Greens, Lib Dems, and even Labour in some seats are unlikely to meet this threshold according to polls, so these votes could be wasted and may allow more Reform MSs to be elected.

Plaid Cymru have campaigned for many years for this new system so that you can *quite specifically* split the vote in a bloc, and still stop the party in another bloc running the government. And also campaigned for legislation to stop politicians misleading voters. I get that it’s a simple message, and Labour have manifestly failed so far to make the argument - and it’s a complicated one - that you don’t need to vote tactically in this way. But it’s going to take a few electoral cycles for the voters to get there, and in the meantime, all parties should be a bit more upfront with voters about what might happen after the election, who they might work with, and how supporters of party x can vote to “keep out” party y.

It seems Reform UK are struggling to mobilise their supporters in the area of Wales where their new leader is based. "Out of 1,400 members and supporters in our branch so far only eight have said they will help campaign this weekend. "Unfortunately this is typical of the response we get."
