@maniaUFO It's tidal. Back billions of years ago, the Earth's gravity influenced the way the moon formed, and most of the volcanic activity happened on the near side. The dark areas are remnants of the volcanic eruptions.

@Hamzythacreator Simple answer... Gravity pulls us toward the centre of the Earth, it makes very little difference where you are. To you, your feet are always down, and your weight always pushes down toward your feet.
