We did call them warmongers and we did demand impeachment for the Ukraine War. We aren’t calling anyone a warmonger now because there is no bloody ground war, no mass rapes of women and children, no chance will devolve into WW1 style trench warfare and, although a grave mistake was made, nobody is purposely blowing up hospitals and schools. $200B is unfortunate but precision weapons to minimize civilian casualties are not cheap and, unlike Bush & Obama’s wars, nobody is airlifting in pallets of cash. And $200B is far far less than the $8T or so the last few ground wars cost us.
Glenn Greenwald@ggreenwald

If Biden or Kamala had won, and started a serious war with Iran, and asked Congress for $200 billion in the first 3 weeks, every single MAGA influencer would be calling them warmongers and demanding impeachment. Neocons would be happy, but the MAGA influencers would be enraged.

MORE: Recent Ukrainian advances in the Oleksandrivka direction and the continued success of Ukraine’s defensive lines in constraining Russian advances have forced the Russian military command into competing tactical and operational dilemmas on the battlefield, which have likely disrupted Russian preparations for their Spring-Summer 2026 offensive. The Russian failure to make even tactical advances to seize favorable starting positions in the Kostyantynivka-Druzhkivka tactical area for the anticipated Spring-Summer 2026 offensive against Ukraine’s Fortress Belt directly undermines Russia’s ability to achieve significant gains in the anticipated offensive.

MORE: Ukrainian drone units have been increasingly prioritizing and executing successful strikes against Russian artillery, drone operators and logistics targets in the near rear to achieve tactical effects. ⬇️(1/2) Ukraine’s short-range strike campaign against the Russian tactical near rear is increasingly degrading both Russian offensive and defensive capabilities by enabling Ukrainian forces to make tactical gains and hindering Russia’s ability to conduct artillery preparation for the anticipated Spring-Summer 2026 offensive.

🚨 BREAKING: DOJ just SUBPOENAED former FBI Director James Comey and @mrddmia says this moment has been a LONG time coming! “This is about alleged weaponization of law enforcement and if proven, it would be the greatest scandal.”

Republican Senator Josh Hawley on the SAVE Act: “The only reason the Democrats don’t want it is they want to be able to cheat in our elections. I mean, it’s as simple as that! 80-90% of the public wants IDs for voting." SPOT ON 🎯

Gavin Newsom’s wife says “there’s a lot to learn from same-s*x couples. Conservatives are holding the country back, but it won’t work because people are woke.” This would be the WORST First Lady of all time.

NH Voter Registration by Party since Nov. 2024 State is shifting into position for a razor close 2028 presidential race if this post-2024 shift holds. Votes well to the left of registration advantage and hasn’t voted right of it since 1988. Assessment: Most likely state to flip to GOP presidential nominee in 2028

Gavin Newsom’s deputy communications director (“he/him”) has responded to our investigative report with a bizarre, rambling email trying to shift the conversation to President Trump and the price of gas. But voters know Newsom is wasting millions on a butterfly bridge to nowhere.

People like to claim that Gavin Newsom will be a formidable candidate for President, but his future run will be complicated by simple observations like "You've spent $100B+ tax dollars on a train that hasn't been built, another $100M+ on a 'wildlife crossing' to nowhere, and nearly $50B on a homelessness problem that has only gotten worse."
End Wokeness@EndWokeness

California already spent $114 million on this unfinished wildlife crossing bridge (leading nowhere)

Trump, the person if not the whole administration, cares deeply about restoring American maritime might. He came into office determined to restore American maritime power. He assembled the greatest collection of maritime minds in key government positions since Nixon. He put Mike Waltz, creator of the SHIPS for America Act, as head of his National Security Council. He created a Maritime Office in the White House. He appointed maritime advocates to key positions throughout his administration. He signed a sweeping Maritime Executive Order in April 2025 that directed a Maritime Action Plan across Defense, State, Transportation, and Homeland Security. He started laser focusing on securing chokepoints: Panama, the Red Sea, Suez, the Greenland-UK Gap. He launched investigations into Gibraltar and Spain. He created USTR actions to tariff Chinese-built and operated ships. He called CMA CGM’s CEO Rodolphe Saadé to the Oval Office and secured a $20 billion commitment. He invited me, the owner of the world’s largest shipping news website, to the White House multiple times and got me a Pentagon press credential. The ambition was real.

Let's unpack this.. What if the White House has no intention of reopening the Strait of Hormuz? What if this war is really about ships & tariffs? I had a long discussion with senior DOE official yesterday on background. I can’t share any details but it’s clear everyone’s Strait of Hormuz calculus is wrong. We need to go back to the drawing boards. That's it. That's the tweet. Now a hypothetical 🧵 with my personal thoughts.
