It's one of the things that inspires me the most when working on games. And as a player, this kind of world-building really draws me in. I don't know how many times I've been up at 2am reading the Trivia/Lore section of the Terraria wiki. Steam doesn't track those hours.

At my previous job I was so excited when I found wiki articles and YouTube videos/comments discussing and theory-crafting about the mob sounds I made on Minecraft Dungeons. (Fans of the franchise talking about the lore implications of the sounds my throat made. How cool is that?)

@BrentRAudio Awesome tip! I find MUtility (free) perfect for this sort of thing. It's got a volume knob that maxes out at 0, so you can do this sort of volume modulation and make sure that you're not accidentally boosting/clipping the levels

quick n dirty sound design trick for maintaining the shape you want while you’re trying out different FX.

@KissaKolme Love this mindset~ It's very easy to get stuck in the "right way" of doing things based on information on the internet/in tutorials, but experimentation and playing around is the best way to stay creative and develop a sound that's unique to you

Also deliberately don't want to say what the layers are here, what the processing is etc, it's good to come up with that stuff yourself and make it into 'your process' 🧠
