Opinion Prices are spiralling upwards. If you are not getting at least a 5% pay increase from January, you are getting poorer. But what most don't realise is that, every pay rise is a permanent multiplier on costs. For example: If an employee on around €42k gets a raise of €2k. It costs the employer ~€2,300 but the employee only nets ~€960 after tax. OR if a business needs to increase its prices. A €1 increase will cost them €1.23 because 23% VAT is charged on the increase itself. Higher wages → higher taxes → higher prices → higher taxes again. This is the spiral and there is no way out without a complete overhaul of our tax system. Meanwhile Govt frivolously waste our money on 14 steps in Mount Merrion for €750k, a bike shed for €350k and a security hut for over a €million. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.
