this is such a funny thing to say about animorphs, the book series that showed me every single way human and animal bodies can be torn apart in graphic detail while the child soldier main characters got progressively more traumatized and suicidal

I don't know what books this reviewer was reading because in my copies Jake actively recruits disabled children to join his army by promising to do a eugenics and then orders them all to their deaths as a distraction tactic.
Not exactly what I consider "fun wish fulfillment"

I actually should read Animorphs in full. I loved the books as a kid but it was very much a 'whatever the library has on hand' thing, I wasn't reading in order and even though I kinda know how it ends, I never read it myself

Initial excitement aside, if you're doing Animorphs, please don't sand the edges off like they did with that first Percy Jackson series I watched, those kids were at WAR, actual, real hell, suffering and death, be real with the trauma or do another IP

Fun Fact: The author did a blog post following the series's VERY dark and depressing ending after a lot of readers were traumatized by the kid characters all either dying or having PTSD and in response, this based lady said: "Lol, War is war keep crying"
