Shane Doan and the Leafs have parted ways. His deal was expiring June 30. Sounds like a mutual decision. Doan was brought in by former Leafs GM Brad Treliving. Doan recently interviewed in Vancouver. We’ll see where Doan ends up but he’s now a free agent.

@AfterLeWhistle Lightning. “The experience factor” is not invalid, but it is an overrated talking point. Sabres are faster, and don’t lack the willingness to respond to physicality. Also, I think the Sabres might’ve gotten in their heads in the last 3 times they’ve played each other.

I truly don’t understand why people aren’t also equally appalled at Benson’s slewfoot.
Yes, the stick slash is way more dangerous and far more violent and cannot happen. He will be suspended likely for 3-5 games.
Benson slew-footed him up 4-1 in the final 2 minutes of a series-ending win, on a clear icing after Benson lost the race.
McAvoy is 100% wrong for the slash, put blatantly ignoring context seems foolish to me.
