@JHCPAL I've noticed something recently which might interest you. There seems to be a division in Newcastle between how people pronounce Latte. Some say it like "lartay" with the "a" sound as in "far"; others with "a" sound like in cat. I wonder if there's a sub accent going on

@Trystanian @JHCPAL I think they are two slightly different sounds: /ɒː/ in the 'plaster' Geordie shibboleth vs /ɑː/ in 'latte'. And /lɑːteɪ/ is missing the 'ster' ending of master/plaster/etc.

@PeterJLyth @vivamjm Yeah, the fucking Brits, because I'm a Scot, and my country voted 62% Remain, but we were dragged out by England. Good to hear if there is a majority that regret it, but not much action to evidence your claim.

This would not happen if we still had our Freedom of Movement rights which *we* chose to end. So of course it is not "thanks to EU" it is very much thanks to Brexit. It is tiresome to still see these sort of headlines.
