@ThreadOrder Definitely agree on this! I tend to think a trade off to this that I’ve noticed a lot growing up in France might be that we focus too much on developing all around players and not great athletes/competitors in a way (in the general sense, there are exceptions as always)

@Turin1345 Yes the US is producing a lot of good players but these players lack elements that clay court tennis develops (movement/variation/big forehands).

@raphaelcohen6_ @ThreadOrder I’m French too but have lived in Italy, pretty sure the share of clay court is as high (I’d say even higher) here than over there but it’s more the eye test over a couple regions rather than true stats so to take with a pinch of salt

@Turin1345 @ThreadOrder France isn’t. I’m French and most of the courts are hardcourts or similar (porous concrete). We have probably more clay courts than in the US proportionally, but a lot of kids don’t grow and learn tennis on the dirt

@ThreadOrder Yes but Mayotte’s point was for the US which are also easily placing players in the top 50 and quite frequently top 10 so I thought here it was more about the slam winning tier of players

@_ryan1925 The issue is with indoors. Carlos need to hack indoors and this lots are trying to make it look like Carlos has an issue with hard courts. Indoors is played with a very fast pace and that’s not carlos’ game but I am sure he is working on it. On outdoor hard, he is still the best.
