There is a real documented effort by autocratic regimes that all support each other, all using back channels to evade sanctions, to dismantle Western power, especially when it comes to America, by dividing the West. These states have little in common other than an antipathy towards democracy and accountability, and their fervent hatred of America. Every time I see someone post yet another screed about how we have so many reasons to abandon Ukraine or Israel, defund USAID, or pull out of NATO, all I can think is "look at this stupid fuck. He drank the koolaid. They all did. Now they're the willing foot soldiers of China, Iran, Russia, and their cabal of minor criminal kleptocratic satellite states." None of these issues are truly about Israel or Ukraine. They're about keeping people like Putin in power forever, and making sure that anyone that poses a threat to his self-enrichment, or those like him, are silenced or dead, even if that includes the citizens of their own countries, and every living American. These autocracies will use anything they can think of to divide us and convince us that caring about decency and each other is a useless enterprise. They want us disempowered and nihilistic, shrugging our shoulders and saying, "not my problem," as they use UN intelligence to bomb hospitals, as Russia did in Syria. They will spread rumors about our politicians on TikTok, hack emails, and spend billions creating culture wars fueled by paid bots. We are fighting a battle for democracy, for the rule of law, the accountability of governments, and the soul of Western civilization. And we are losing.
