Romanian/Moldovan has a highly complex Latin grammar (three genders, five cases, and archaic verb conjugations) that a "shepherd's pidgin" could never sustain. A highly confirmed linearly descended Romance language.

For purely political reasons Moldavian has no official standard: doesn't change is a living language distinct from Romanian, and literature predates Romanian Standard itself.

Serbs and Slovaks belong to different Slavic branches (South vs. West) and cannot understand each other without a translator.
