Two 80’s quintessential albums to the sound track of my youth! I just came across this from many months back and realized I never posted it. Two of these, the wet trash bag cover of Bon Jovi’s 1986 classic Slippery When Wet, and the cross and skulls cover of Guns N Roses 1987 classic were bought when they came out. I knew they both had different covers originally that were pulled but I had never seen one in person. Regardless what you think of these albums now, at the time they were game changers. If you were a kid in junior high or high school you had these albums or knew many of others who did. I mean, you couldn’t escape the singles from these albums. They were all over MTV and FM radio. Both of these albums ended up becoming two of the biggest selling albums ever. Bon Jovi started selling immediately but it took a while for Appetite For Destruction to catch on. When it did however it was unavoidable. The original covers were pulled from the American market because the labels were afraid they would hurt sales, fearing some retail chains may refuse to sell them, which they did. Ahhhh the good ole 80’s where album covers and song lyrics could get albums banned, it was such a different time. Instead it made the ones that made it to shelves in other markets collectors items. The pink Slippery When Wet cover made it to the Japanese market for a while. The gray Slippery cover made its way into the European markets. I always thought it would be cool to find one, I never expected to find both! The Guns N Roses cover however did make it to the shelves for a short time but were pulled after several stores refused to carry it because of the cover. This is another one I always wanted but didn’t think I’d ever see one. Especially after not buying albums since the mid 90’s. I’ve been highly controversial recently and people tend to project an idea of me based on certain things. So I’m gonna break the #1 rule of social media and talk politics for a second. I genuinely do not gaf. The whole 2 party system is a lie. Every single point of contention is broken down into the most polarizing thing possible. “Baby killers” vs “Taking away women’s rights” “Robbing away our freedom and self defense” vs “Enabling murderers and school shootings” Etc etc etc. Recently, I spoke out on being pro Universal Income, and that was apparently not popular with both parties. I’ve actually never seen both sides so vehemently against the same thing. Society has been systematically brainwashed into thinking a certain way. For example, the very mention of Elon Musk has people assuming that I hate trans people?? Me being pro AI apparently means I hate artists and jobs?? Stop projecting lol, you don’t know me. And I quite honestly do not have the luxury of virtue signaling right now. Virtue signaling is for the broke, the retired, and those running for office. I’m not gonna be a fake bitch and come on here with my politically correct talking points. It would have been soooo easy to farm the lot of you by saying shit like “Fuck Trump” or “Deport the immigrants”. Heck, if I wanted to speedrun social influence I’d probably turn into a MAGA influencer preaching trad wife and red pill. Social media has a habit of rewarding the most polarizing takes. It’s much easier uniting a group of people towards a common hate than under a common goal. At the risk of sounding like a communist (I swear to you that I am capitalist to my core), I think the CCP is unironically doing a better job right now. It’s primarily due to long term planning and not having to optimize for 4 year election cycles. Democracy worked ok when the US was a small country with a handful of people. But nowadays, politicians do whatever to manipulate the masses and the votes they hold. And oh boy are the masses easy to manipulate. I’ve never voted in my life. In fact, I think democracy is literally copium fed to the people to make them think they can have artificial agency by voting. But let’s be real here. You as the individual has no real impact on the outcome of anything by voting alone. It’s an illusion of choice, “picking the lesser evil out of 2 evils”. How many times have you heard “Vote __ so __ don’t win”? If you really want to go have an impact in the world, go get rich. The beauty and flaw of the government is that politicians can be bought. You’re gonna be able to do so much more good in the world getting rich instead of bickering over talking point slogans slung around by either parties. Stop hating those you perceive to be the “other side” lol, trust me they are not your enemy. In terms of personal politics, I’m only mildly racist (not towards the race you’d think, and it’s for a good reason). I swear I am not a sexist homophobic transphobic communist artist-hating nazi.
