People need to understand that when there are coaching changes, many coach families are affected. Moving, selling & buying houses, changing schools for your kids, leaving friends. And often this is all being done by the wives. Underappreciated how tough this is.

I remember Nick Saban arguing that you needed to be a conference champion to get into the BCS title game in 2003. He was singing an entirely different tune in 2011.

Lane Kiffin had every chance to make the story about the team. About Lacy. About Chambliss. About Corey Adams. He made it about himself. Pete Golding has had every chance to make it about himself. Every answer is the same: “It’s about the players.” He makes it about the kids.
