We need legislation that would let these positions pay more. Jared has done what he can here, I think, but there are a lot of very very smart people in this industry on the contractor side who would have to take a big pay cut even at a maxed out GS-14 or 15 position.

Yet another reason property taxes are the best form of taxes is because they match the perpetual liabilities of civilization (schools, courts, police, etc.) with a perpetual asset (the land).
Your obligations to your community don't stop just because you've paid off your home.
