The ill-fated cruise that capsized in Jabalpur killed 9, with several still missing. Look, no life jackets.
Survivors said they asked the crew to turn back when winds worsened, but were ignored. Life jackets were given only after cruise began capsizing.
Another reminder: avoid deep water activities in India unless you can swim well.
Operators don’t use life jackets. Even when they do, they are cheap, low-quality, poorly maintained, or outright substandard, sometimes waterlogged, torn, or with failing straps, just to tick a box. Certification labels are missing or meaningless, and regular inspection or replacement is rare.

Devastating, yet courageous.
Mind-numbing, yet fiercely brave.
Bloody heart-wrenching, yet all she could give.
A mother in Jabalpur, water rising, world collapsing, pulled her child tight to her chest and chose to face it together.
No power, no escape. Just arms. Just a heartbeat. Just a mother doing what mothers have always done, shield her child from the cruelty of the world, even when the world offers no way out.
There is no bravery louder than silence in those arms.
You will not be forgotten!
Your courage will inspire us all!
I salute you! I bow in respect. I fold my hands asking for peace.
Forgive us that we couldn’t help you in time.
We failed as a humanity.

News just came in from Chennai that one of our biggest well wishers, a great educationist, patron of Arts and to us, our dearest Meena Aunty, Kumararani Dr Meena Muthiah is no more.
My son Aditya was first batch student in Chettinad Vidhyashram. All my 3 children studied there. We had always kept a close touch with her, her son Ayyappan, grand daughter Chithra (who is my daughter Aarabhi’s bestie till date).
I can’t forget how Aunty came to Child Trust Hospital where Aditya was admitted when he was 3 + and met both Dr Mathangi and Dr Ramakrishnan and said- He’s like our child, you should personally give him the best.
When I was in Advertising, I was allowed to shoot in her private quarters in the palace when Ms Aruna Gopinath then Miss India 3 was the model and when I gave break into advertising to photographer late K V Anand (his first assignment when he was doing cover photos for Su-Ba novels and before he joined P C Sreeram).
It is a great personal loss to us. Our heart reaches out to dear Ayyappan and family. Condolences to Amuthavalli, the Principal, Karuppiah and to the staff of Chettinad Vidhyashram.
So many fond memories, feeling emotional today.

Pl check with the airline whether there is a delay or not. This is classic case of dodging. What PNR will do when the flight itself is delayed. I can share my no but that won't help

@MoCA_GoI If the passenger misses the flight, it is his fault&loses and when the airline delays also passengers lose as no punishment to airlines for delays. @IndiGo6E @narendramodi We get angry when someone calls us hellhole but we prove in every walk of life daily.
