@teet_eak I have done so before, but I don't get the idea that the opinions of foreigners are held in very high regard. But there are some relatively straightforward actions one can take to reduce piracy in at least the West. In some of the more crime ridden countries, it's more difficult.

@teet_eak There are certainly regions in the world that have a vested interest in growing that sort of criminality. But at the same time, I also believe there are countermeasures we haven't explored yet, especially when it comes to Japanese content. So I do think things can still improve.

@teet_eak Which is dreadful but it's also good example: That piracy company relied on physical DVD sales, with the advent of things like Netflix this has dealt a crippling blow to that form of piracy. So I think the constructive answer is to seek avenues like this to heavily reduce piracy.

One of the interesting arguments the JP side has had against Stop Killing Games is that to make an offline version or would cost 50% to 100% more of the games original budget to do it. I'm not sure if this is just a blatant lie, genuine incompetence or total ignorance. We have guys with no access to the source code able to reverse engineer servers with, relatively speaking, minimal effort. If Joe Everyman can do it for 0 dollars in his basement without the nessecary information, how come companies that actually have that information apparently can't do?

Honestly I am almost amazed at how overtly sociopolitical language like this ended up in an E rated Nintendo game. I understand the market for this game is all in on pronouns and zero gender pansexuality but still it gives the impression that NoJ executives don’t follow western trends at all or they don’t understand the ideological conflicts regarding gender and sexuality in the US.

@LionessOGTfL Japanese game companies were actually in trouble for a short while when the transition to the HD generation happened (PS3 and Xbox 360), but because of what I said before, a lot of people just shifted to Japanese games and they made a complete comeback.

@LionessOGTfL There was a campaign in 2014 from feminists that wanted to convince gaming companies that otaku shouldn't be their customers. They succeeded in convincing them and now they're constantly losing enormous amounts of money and fighting gamers who say they don't want those products.
