@RossLydall Would you pray for the poor drivers of oversized cars! Where will they park them?

@trussliz @OBR_UK @bankofengland Fortunately you were held accountable and you were booted out. You should be on the village green in the stocks

Ahead of the Budget I talk about how the British economic system is broken.
We've had decades of stagnation and the doom loop is accelerating.
We will not get back to sensible economic policy until the @OBR_UK is abolished and the @bankofengland is made accountable.

@StevenJonMiller There are loads of things children and families don’t pay for. Why demonise starving kids and parents who can’t afford to feed them?
English

@LizKershawDJ I’m surprised you need anything to heat your home with all that hot air and nonsense you’re spouting.

I went to buy a bag of “coal” as its nearly 0 degrees and dropping. But it’s now 12 quid a 5kg bag. And 22 quid for 10kg! At all the local shops, supermarket and garage. And of course it’s imported. And not even coal because that’s banned altogether now. Because of #NetZero.
And yet all over the UK we have millions of pensioners and "economically inactive" working age people in post industrial communities sitting atop our own rich coal reserves. While an accountant friend is now permanently in Aberdeen busily helping insolvent businesses wind up because we can’t touch our North Sea Oil. And all because of #NetZero zealots.
Btw it's very calm here in Kent so the wind farms stand still and silent and the fields of solar panels won't be any good when it snows later.

@KiszelyPhilip It’s started in 2010/11 with austerity. Which increased inequality. Desperate and hopeless people do bad things.

Ten people stabbed on the LNER between London and Doncaster. I’m on the same line, going the other way. There was a time when an incident like this would have been in the news for weeks. But something equally brutal will happen tomorrow, or on Monday.
My country isn’t my country anymore. The population is unhinged, the streets unsafe. If you’re out and about all the time, on trains, in London, you just feel like you’re waiting your turn. Mugging, assault, stabbing, whatever.
It never used to be like this.
We were civilised.

@R_J_Shaw @POTUS @realDonaldTrump @JDVance @elonmusk Plato was rescinded. Care to update your claim?
English

@danwootton They are taking trains out to refurbish them. It doesn’t make sense to deep clean the graffiti in some cases so saving taxpayers money. You should go try the Liz line and see how beautiful it it

@RupertLowe10 The problem with social housing is that eventually you run out of state assets to sell at a discount for private profit.

@ColinBrazierTV Wait till you see how the Very Dishonourable Jacob Rees Mogg treated the front benches
English

In four years the green benches will be heaving with Reform MPs. I hope they can be magnanimous enough to forget the way their party's handful of MPs was patronised, marginalised and demonised by parliament's 2024 intake. Behaviour unworthy of a students' union.
Chris Rose@ArchRose90
This is appalling behaviour from Labour and Lib Dem MPs. Nigel Farage was repeatedly heckled as he laid out a proposed ECHR Withdrawal Bill. One MP yelped out "Putin's pet!" He has every right to be heard without childish interruptions. Utterly embarrassing representatives.
English

@darrengrimes How are the good folk of Clacton feeling? Are they keeping the faith?
English

@RupertLowe10 You and Reform can’t use pronouns properly so what are we going to do with you?

We all need to be clear about what kind of person Zack Polanski is. He has publicly claimed that shoplifting can be justified, even saying he would do it himself if he were poor. This tells us three things.
First, since the vast majority of poor people do NOT shoplift, Zack has effectively admitted that his moral compass is completely out of step with the struggling Britons who still cling to a sense of decency and fair play in everyday transactions.
Secondly, it reveals his rather jaundiced view of Britain’s poor - as though they are somehow predisposed to crime whenever hardship strikes.
And thirdly, it shows he has no interest in supporting businesses, protecting their staff, or upholding basic order for law-abiding citizens.
A totally revolting man.

Younger people:
There was a time, in the not too distant past, when you could 'phone a company, council, bank, energy supplier, shop, hospital, doctor, airline, or anyone really. It rang a couple of times and a human answered the 'phone. They spoke perfect English and managed to sort your query quickly, politely and efficiently. It was great.
Yep. That really used to happen. 😀
