I listened to this interview and it's like we're living in separate realities 1) These are OG neocons and they sound exactly like Cenk and Tucker 2) They don't acknowledge the actual objectives (nukes/ICBM) 3) They judge the war on their invented criteria 4) Nonstop doomerism

When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US. France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.) Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors. NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.

A large group of C-17 military transport aircraft of the US Air Force is crossing the Atlantic and heading towards the Middle East, according to data from Flightradar24. C-17s are used for transporting personnel, heavy weapons, and armored vehicles. This is one of the largest aerial troop deployments since the beginning of the war. Trump is not about to exit the conflict.

US sending nearly all JASSM-ER cruise missiles to CENTCOM, leaving "only about 425 JASSM-ER out of a prewar inventory of 2,300" for other contingencies. When does the US lose conventional deterrence against China? We're edging dangerously close. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@AdamKinzinger @AriFleischer The problem with anyone who supports Trump, being reasonable, logical, and principled is, it is not an option. The virtues must be forgotten, while pretending on the surface they still matter.

Watching the self destruction of @AriFleischer is crazy. I used to think he was reasonable but maybe i just didn’t pay attention
Jonah Goldberg@JonahDispatch

Sorry, Ari. I just saw your response. I think it is hilarious that rather than actually respond to my point, you simply opted to double down on your practice of carrying water for Trump like a modern-day Gunga Din. I think it's great that NATO is spending more on defense. I think Trump can be commended for encouraging it (though the turd-polishing of some folks on this front is often embarrassing. He primarily didn't do it to "save" NATO or even to make it stronger). But all of this is irrelevant to the point you dodged. If you think Trump has handled the transatlantic alliance well since being elected to his second term, say so. Own it. Don't deflect. But if that is your position, that's pure idiocy or dishonest spin. Our NATO allies *should* step up. It would be in their interest. But Trump has made the politics of that near-impossible by threatening Greenland, claiming that our allies didn't really fight in Afghanistan and Iraq, (not Vance's Munich performance, dicking around with Ukraine) etc. Even the far right (outside of Hungary) parties hate Trump now. Then, when Trump launched this war on Iran he said he didn't need any of their help because we already won. Now, he's asking for help, but he can't concede error or even ask nicely. So he implies their all cowards who need to muster "delayed courage." Defend that Ari. Hell simply acknowledge it.

I just had a great conversation with @POTUS. I totally support his ultimatum to the Iranian regime to open up the Strait of Hormuz and to do a peace deal. A massive military operation awaits Iran if they choose poorly. This regime has been severely crippled through Operation Epic Fury. Their reign of terror against the region and the world needs to come to an end, hopefully through a peace deal. After speaking with President Trump this morning, I am completely convinced that he will use overwhelming military force against the regime if they continue to impede the Strait of Hormuz and refuse a diplomatic solution to achieve our military objectives. If it’s not clear to Iran and others by now that President Trump means what he says then I don’t know when it will ever be. Choose wisely.

Germany's MEFO bill scheme---one of the most important lessons of monetary history.
Handre@Handre

You've heard a lot about Keynes, but do you know this guy? Hjalmar Schacht stands as history's most dangerous central banker—not because he was incompetent, but because he was brilliant at monetary manipulation. The "wizard of finance" orchestrated Germany's recovery from hyperinflation in 1924, ending the Weimar Republic's currency collapse through orthodox monetary policy. Gold standard restoration, spending cuts, balanced budgets. Classic Austrian medicine that actually worked. But Schacht's success became his curse—politicians learned they could use monetary technocrats to achieve impossible economics. When Hitler rose to power, Schacht returned as Reichsbank president and crafted the MEFO bills scheme—shadow money creation disguised as private commercial paper. Pure monetary sleight of hand. The Reich issued these bills to armament companies, who discounted them at the Reichsbank for cash. Officially, government debt stayed low. Reality? Schacht printed 12 billion marks of hidden inflation to fund rearmament between 1934-1938. Unemployment dropped from 6 million to under 1 million, and the world marveled at the German economic miracle. Schacht eventually resigned in 1939 when even he recognized the unsustainability of his creation. The Allies later acquitted him at Nuremberg, calling him a "patriot" who opposed Hitler's war. They missed the deeper point—Schacht had shown every future government how to disguise monetary expansion as economic genius. Modern central bankers study Schacht not as a cautionary tale, but as an instruction manual. Quantitative easing, special purpose vehicles, government bond purchases "for liquidity"—all variations on MEFO bills. The techniques change, but the core deception remains: making something from nothing while calling it sound policy.

NATO just told America: not through our skies. A furious US general went on Fox News and confirmed it. Italy. Germany. Spain. France. Every single one of them. Airspace closed. Bases locked. Go find another way. The empire built 75 years of alliances for exactly this moment. And when the moment came, the allies watched from the window. Fighting alone. In the Middle East, nobody cares.
