Washington's evolving Regime Change strategy is becoming clearer: Iraq: Replace Saddam with chaos. Libya: Replace Qaddafi with barbarism: Afghanistan: Replace the Taliban....with the Taliban. Iran: Replace Khamenei with Khamenei. Who's next?!
OSINTdefender@sentdefender

Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, an Iranian politician, cleric, and eldest son of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been elected the next Supreme Leader of Iran under pressure from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), according to Iran International.

BREAKING: In a single day, Trump told the world he will spend $200 billion, deploy zero troops, freeze Iranian bank accounts, invoke Pearl Harbor to Japan’s face, reverse six allies from refusal to compliance, and keep the price of oil low. All simultaneously. None of it contradictory. The $200 billion first. Trump confirmed the Pentagon supplemental and called it “a small price to pay to make sure we stay tippy top.” This comes on top of a prior $150 billion allocation. The national debt is $38.86 trillion and will cross $39 trillion before March ends. Core PCE just printed 3.1 percent, the worst in nearly two years. GDP slowed to 1.4 percent in Q4. The money funds the war. The war funds the inflation. The inflation erodes the money. The zero troops next. Trump stated directly: “No, I’m not putting troops anywhere. If I were? I certainly wouldn’t tell YOU!” Then added: “We will do whatever is necessary to keep the price low.” Reuters reports internal discussions about US ground forces on Kharg Island, Iran’s 90 percent crude export terminal. Trump publicly denies troops while privately discussing the one deployment that would give Washington direct control over Iranian oil flows. The denial and the discussion coexist because they serve different audiences: the denial serves American voters who do not want another ground war, the discussion serves the Pentagon planners who need leverage. The financial warfare. Treasury Secretary Bessent confirmed the US is observing “major defections” within the Iranian regime. Treasury is tracking and freezing leadership bank accounts. Bessent framed it as “Baghdad Bob” collapse: “We now know where the Iranian leadership bank accounts are, and those are being frozen. And we will hold them and see who comes forward in terms of defections.” He referenced Kharg Island as a potential “US asset” if oil workers refuse coerced operations. The kinetic war degrades Iranian hardware. The financial war degrades Iranian loyalty. The alliance reversal. Six countries that said this was not their war, Japan, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands, issued a joint statement pledging support for safe passage through Hormuz. Germany’s Pistorius said “not our war” two days ago. Germany signed the pledge today. Trump’s “no free rides” doctrine converted refusal into compliance in 48 hours. The Pearl Harbor jab. During the Takaichi summit, a Japanese reporter asked why Japan was not told before the strikes. Trump responded: “Why didn’t you tell ME about PEARL HARBOR?!” Then: “You believe in surprise much more-so than us!” He followed with the leverage: Japan gets 90 percent of its oil through the Strait of Hormuz. America stations 45,000 troops on Japanese soil. The subtext is not historical insensitivity. It is transactional clarity. Japan depends on American protection and American-secured energy flows. The Pearl Harbor line reminds Tokyo that the relationship has always been asymmetric. The price management. Bessent floated sanctions relief on Iranian oil stranded on tankers. WTI trades at a $12 to $20 discount to Brent. The American consumer is partially insulated. The Asian consumer absorbs the full war premium. Every lever Trump pulled today, the spending, the denials, the freezes, the alliances, the rhetoric, converges on one objective: degrade Iran while keeping American gasoline below the political pain threshold. Six moves. One day. Zero troops. Two hundred billion dollars. And the strait that all of it revolves around is still closed. Full analysis: open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

Do you get it, MAGA HATs? Even an Obama operative is telling you the truth. There was no imminent threat. Never has been. Bibi sabotaged negotiations yet again for the umpteenth time, and the Donald was too stupid and arrogant to understand he was being penetrated from the rear.
Furkan Gözükara@FurkanGozukara

Mind blowing revelation. Ben Rhodes exposes how Benjamin Netanyahu intentionally sabotaged the Iran Nuclear Deal because he was terrified it would actually succeed. Israel prefers a permanent state of war over diplomacy and peace in the Middle East.

Tulsi! Grow a pair. Quit. Loudly. You can do it. You've been a smart and honest breath of fresh air amidst the putrid vapors of the Swamp. You tried, but this maniacal egomaniac is never going to listen to you. Time to Leave. NOW!!
Glenn Greenwald@ggreenwald

What makes Tulsi Gabbard's behavior extra pathetic is that not only did Trump publicly state he doesn't give a shit what she thinks, but they have also excluded her from key national security meetings because they don't trust her. Sacrificing all dignity for an empty title.

Persian Gulf Update: ERA’s CEO stated that the global LNG market does not have the spare capacity to bridge the gap if Hormuz-linked supply is meaningfully lost. That single sentence reprices everything. If the replacement molecules do not exist in sufficient volume, the adjustment mechanism is not alternative supply. It is fuel switching, demand destruction, and rationing by balance-sheet strength. Rich buyers can pay more. Poor buyers cannot. The poor buyers are already breaking. Vietnam’s diesel is up 40 to 59 percent. Australia’s petrol is up 70 cents per litre. Sri Lanka is rationing fuel with QR codes at 15 litres per car per week, a four-day workweek, and Wednesday school closures. India raised LPG prices while importing 85 percent of its crude through a strait that is 90 percent shut. Gulf air cargo collapsed 79 percent. Jet fuel surged 58 percent. IndiGo and Akasa imposed surcharges. Vietnam Airlines warned of shortages from April. Ninety-five countries have reported petrol price increases since February 28. Ras Laffan is not just LNG. It is helium, urea, methanol, polyethylene, and sulfur. The downstream cascade from a multi-year Qatari impairment runs through semiconductor fabrication, pharmaceutical synthesis, phosphate fertiliser production, food packaging, and desalination. The facility that is damaged produces the molecules that four billion people depend on for chips, medicine, fertiliser, plastic, and drinking water. TRUMP Channeling Steve Urkel: Did I do that?!

Good job, POTUS. Tens of millions of poverty level citizens of India will soon run out of cooking oil because of two utterly idiotic ideas that were yours' alone: Impose massive tariffs on trading partners with big surpluses owing to lower costs; and 2) Bomb Iran (and the Persian Gulf) back to the stone age because Bibi told you the same lie he has been peddling for 30 years---that they have a nuke, which every competent and objective observer has attested they don't and are not even close, including the nation's 17 intelligence agencies.

Iran and India Have Come Face to Face. Iran Has Refused Permission for 22 Indian Ships to Pass Through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran Has Demanded That India First Return Its 3 Ships, Which It Had Seized to Please the United States. This Bold Decision by Iran Has Caused a Stir in New Delhi's Chambers, Where India Now Sees No Way to Meet Its Energy Needs Other Than Accepting Tehran's Conditions. India Had Seized Three Iranian Oil Tankers in February at That Time When It Was Trying to Strike a Major Trade Deal with the United States. India Had Detained Them on the Fabricated Charge of "Concealing Identity," But Tehran Has Now Made It Clear That Until Iran's These Three Tankers Are Returned with Honor, the Strait of Hormuz Will Remain a "No-Go Area" for Indian Ships. According to the Global News Agency 'Reuters,' 22 Indian Naval Ships Are Currently Stranded in the Warm Waters of the Strait of Hormuz, Carrying 611 Indian Citizens. Six of These Ships Are Loaded with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). India Imports 90 Percent of Its Required LPG from Gulf Countries, and Due to This Restriction by Iran, There Is a Fear of Severe Shortages of Domestic Gas in India, Which Has Forced the Modi Government to Its Knees.

Attention One And All: Read Every Word Of this Post.
THE ISLANDER@IslanderWORLD

🇮🇱🇺🇸🇮🇷WSJ: Arab governments were furious about Israel’s attack on South Pars and Washington’s failure to stop it. They had aggressively lobbied the Trump administration to prevent strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure and now feel a target has been put on their backs. They paid the protection money, bought American weapons, hosted the bases. They even signed the Abraham Accords. They even invested heavily in Trump personally. Gulf Monarchies went above and beyond the original petrol dollar arrangement. And when Israel’s theological Darwinism, its suicidal compulsion to burn everything within reach in pursuit of a twisted eschatological endgame... pointed its bombs at South Pars, Washington didn’t stop it. For years Gulf governments had tried to balance security "protection" with Washington against diplomatic engagement with Tehran on the understanding that avoiding participation in confrontation with Iran would reduce the likelihood of becoming a target. The events of the past week have seemingly repudiated that assumption entirely. This is the moment the protection racket dies. Not with a declaration with a sobering realisation. The racket promised security in exchange for petrodollars, American arms purchases and absolute geopolitical compliance. What it actually delivered was Ras Laffan on fire, Al-Ahmadi hit, Habshan shut down, and Saudi Arabia’s top diplomat saying what little trust existed has been completely shattered. Israel’s self-destructive (inverted) theology is de facto helping Iran evict America from the region it spent 60 years acquiring — one burning refinery at a time. This is anything but America First. Had America come first, none of this happens. The Apprentice put Israel first. The Gulf is paying the invoice but they’re taking notes on who sent it.

QatarEnergy CEO confesses: QATAR'S LNG IS GONE FOR HALF A DECADE AND THE WORLD HASN'T PRICED THAT IN YET. 17% of QatarEnergy's export capacity has been wiped out. Not paused. Not disrupted. Structurally destroyed, with a 3-5 year repair horizon confirmed by the CEO himself. This is not a supply shock. It is a permanent redrawing of the global LNG map. Qatar accounts for roughly 20% of all LNG traded globally. Nearly every cubic metre of it moves through Ras Laffan. Iran has now hit that facility twice, with the second wave of strikes on 18-19 March causing extensive physical damage to processing trains that cannot be rebuilt overnight. European gas prices surged more than 25% in a single session. Asian benchmark LNG jumped nearly 39%. Brent crude briefly touched $119. These moves are not fear. They are markets beginning to absorb what a multi-year Qatari production deficit actually means for the structural balance of supply. Qatar as a state is officially over despite all the reserves. What is being missed is the geopolitical rupture this represents for Doha's entire strategic posture. Qatar built its sovereignty on one asset. It kept diplomatic channels open with Tehran, hosted everyone, offended no one, and let its gas do the talking. That model is now broken. Iran has turned Qatar's single-commodity dependency into a weapon and used it. The expulsion of Iranian military attachés within 24 hours is the sharpest diplomatic signal Doha has sent in a generation. It means the bridge-builder role is over. Qatar cannot simultaneously host US forces at Al Udeid, supply LNG to Europe and Asia, and maintain working relations with Tehran while Tehran is targeting its infrastructure. Trump's threat to destroy South Pars entirely if attacks on Qatar continue is not a red line. It is a negotiating position designed to buy time. The Israelis already struck South Pars on 18 March without US knowledge, though at least one Israeli official confirmed coordination. The credibility of any US restraint on Israeli targeting decisions is close to zero at this point. If you are a business or an individual with ties to Qatar, please be advised that they will likely be cut and that you should plan for Qataris not paying you your dues. They owe me 5000 pounds for months now. The real consequence is in Europe. The continent spent 2022 to 2025 replacing Russian pipeline gas with Qatari and American LNG. That substitution strategy now has a hole in it the size of a Gulf state. US LNG exporters Cheniere and Venture Global have already seen their equity surge on the news. Washington's energy sector is the clearest beneficiary of Doha's infrastructure losses alongside Russia. Qatar has been collateral in a war it tried harder than anyone not to join. It will not exist in 2027 anyways.
