@jhomenuk @antmasiello @JackSillin The northern stream injection helps sharpen the trough and infuse it with energy. The result is more favorable and meridional pva and a closed h5 & 7 center just east of Delaware and NJ. Each subsequent model run and ensembles appear to be ticking that way, which is classic.

@antmasiello @JackSillin Looking forward to it Ant. Jack - I think you may have some validity to your idea regarding that incoming disturbance. The GFS v16 is much further north overall (just using as an example) and one of the major differences is how that disturbance interacts over the lakes.

So what "squishes" the low in the ECMWF's depiction? A shortwave trough moving through New England Sunday PM. The northerly flow behind this feature suppresses the burgeoning storm on Monday, letting it slip SE on Tuesday. The GEM has this feature *much* weaker and farther NE.

@nymetrowx It’s one run of the NAM and you are aware it’s previous run had the heaviest axis of snowfall in upstate NY. Run to run variance like that takes away from credibility.
