@Wesshuttle Thinking with your heart is like typing with your posterior, it only feels like work is being done 😅

My best engineer asked for a salary raise today
“I’ve been here 10 years, I run the entire tech team, I deserve more”
I put down my coffee
“Markus, you already make €2,900 a month” I said
“Exactly, it’s 5x less than my friends in the US”
I began fuming
“Is that who you aspire to? Americans working for failing startups?”
“No, it’s just €2,900 is really low these days…“ he began stuttering
Right there I knew I need to make a hard decision
“You’re fired” I said
“What?!”
“I don’t need ungrateful, greedy people at my company” I said
He left and packed his desk in silence
In Europe we reward loyalty, and this man clearly has none

@DMillerYYC And I work at a pretty solid Christian school with a mostly conservative staff. And even at my place, I hear the same leftist talking points. And, in all fairness, Canadians just have no idea the consequences of their political choices. It just "feels" right to them
English

@DrAaronRock Absolutely. The two-faced nature of this latest floor crossing is astounding. The contradiction of her stances is shocking.
English

Regardless of who you voted for, and despite all the questions surrounding party distinctions and the processes through which candidates are chosen, there is no way that floor crossings leading to a majority government are:
a) morally acceptable in a democratic system (it is undeniable that 99.9% of people vote for the party, not the individual candidate),
b) unifying for an already divided country,
c) encouraging to people’s engagement in the electoral process, or
d) motivating people to submit to duly elected (???) civil authorities.
In actual fact, such crossings are deceitful, delegitimize democracy, and increase the likelihood of civil unrest. Carney is one seat away from securing the most illegitimate majority government in Canadian history.

@CP24 Anything of substance to report on? Maybe the heavy use of medical suicide in Canada? Or how about Bill c-9 and it's massive controversy around Christian beliefs?
No? How about a vapid article about a lady who lives in the US talking about an elite guy who clears forests? Yes.

I was so annoyed by this tweet that I spent the last week writing an entire children's book called The Insignificant Speck, which starts out telling this Reddit Atheist story ("You're just a speck, you're not special, nothing means anything"), but then takes a left turn halfway through, exploring the mathematical impossibility of life, how miraculous it is that anything exists at all, how an infinite sequence of stuff had to happen to produce you, how you are imbued with all of that magic, how the human experience is ablaze with the majesty and wonder of its Creator, and how your life has cosmic importance and is weighted with tremendous moral responsibility, and you owe your ancestors and your progeny the honor of living well and fully.
It's the children's picture book I want my kids to read more than any other. A based "Oh, the Places You'll Go" for our retarded age.
Anyone know any illustrators who'd want to collaborate on this?

A nice reminder that everything you're worried about is ultimately insignificant.
English

@G_S_Bhogal Nihilism is such a sad way to live. I don't mean that in a sarcastic way. Genuinely, thinking because of our size in comparison to large things in the universe somehow diminish the experience of living. Context matters. You were created. Not randomly generated...

In 1870, a German chemist named Erich von Wolf was analysing the iron content of various vegetables.
He made a decimal point error.
He recorded spinach as containing 35mg of iron per 100g. The correct figure was 3.5mg. The misplaced decimal sat in the nutritional literature for decades, entirely unchallenged, because nobody particularly felt like re-testing spinach.
In 1929, the Popeye comic strip launched. The creators cited the iron content of spinach as the scientific basis for their character's powers. By this point, the decimal point error was already sixty years old and fully embedded in received nutritional wisdom.
The error was identified and corrected in 1937. The correction was not issued with anything approaching the cultural reach of the original claim.
Popeye continued punching things.
The actual iron content of spinach, 3.5mg per 100g, roughly where it was always supposed to be, is further complicated by the fact that spinach is among the highest-oxalate vegetables known.
Oxalates bind to iron and calcium in the gut and remove them before absorption. The iron in spinach absorbs at around 1–2%, compared to 15–35% for haem iron from red meat. You would need to eat roughly a kilogram of spinach to absorb the iron equivalent of a 100g beef steak.
There is also the kidney stone question. Spinach contains around 970mg of oxalates per 100g: one of the densest plant sources. Chronic high spinach consumption, particularly raw in daily smoothies, is a documented pathway to calcium oxalate kidney stones.
The smoothie industry has not issued a correction.
Popeye is still a sailor.

Friday evening rant:
I feel like there's a big misconception among Christians that Jesus teaches us to "be nice to get along" people.
There's a certain value in that. But here's the key distinction: it only applies as far as compromising the truth doesn't happen. Apostle Paul openly wrote about adopting himself to different cultures ... but for a specific reason, to spread the truth.
Also keep in mind Apostle Paul got beaten multiple times.
Read that again. Apostle Paul gave up his heritage, his ethnicity, his whole identity ... to spread the capital-T Truth. And the reward wasn't "getting along." It was being openly beaten up and imprisoned.
Jesus said: "If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you."
Jesus does not want evangelicals to stay home, be "nice," be focused on their families.
What that message means to you -- only Jesus can tell you. I have said several times that Jesus places people where they witness to refugees and other roles that would be construed as "leftist." So I do not judge Christians who are called into those roles.
But if you are a Christian, and you are afraid of making conflict -- perhaps it's time to pray and ask why.

@SKDoubleDub33 @DataRepublican “Time to start making noise” so it isn’t just me that thinks Republicans act like church mice on Sunday? Only a select few do we actually hear fighting hard for the American way of life and her people.

@csiscanada It's a fake word. Islam, by definition, seeks to dominate and conquer any country or culture it can.

Today, we stand against Islamophobia and all forms of hatred. Everyone deserves to live free from fear. 🤝 #CombatIslamophobia

@trad_west_ All that to say, however, I do prefer this than the alternative. Sadly, however, it just seems like he's not redeemed by Christ but by rituals, rites and institutions
English

@trad_west_ He said the quiet part out loud. "Catholicism gives me structure" "Catholicism gives me a moral compass". I know he doesn't speak for all Catholics, but this man is not a Christian - he is a Catholic.
English

>Hit rock bottom in Hollywood
>Converted to Catholicism through the intercession of Saint Padre Pio
>Mardi Gras 2026, gets into trouble again, repents immediately
>Goes on a mini-pilgrimage in St Orleans to visit Churches
>Gives an interview to Andrew Callaghan of Channel 5 where he defends the Catholic Faith
>Cries saying he would kiss the feet of Christ if he ever saw Him
>Refuses to elaborate further
The redemption arc is real.

English

@Cat73849 @nationalpost And to you, that seems like a perfectly okay response for someone like him? No need to try and help him so that he wants to live?
English

@KristanHawkins Unequivocally wrong. The death penalty for murder (outlined in Scripture) actually puts value back on the life of the person who was murdered. Killing and image bearer of God is an affront to his image. Therefore the state is given the authority to carry out death penalty
English

@neweconomycan Lies. Business is leaving. Canada is a red tape nightmare. Unless you are in bed with brookefield, forget it.
