Legends of King Arthur have long been tied to Glastonbury.... The nearby hill fort at South Cadbury Castle has often been linked to Camelot. Excavations there show activity in the early 6th century, the period usually associated with a possible historical Arthur. The connection to Glastonbury itself appears by the late 12th century, when monks at Glastonbury Abbey claimed to have found a grave. They reported an inscribed marker stating that Arthur was buried there, along with the remains of a man and a woman believed to be Guinevere. The bones were later reburied within the abbey, and the site became a place of pilgrimage. The marked location of the supposed grave can still be seen in the grounds today. #drthehistories
