This April, You Are The Power is launching the Power to Reunite campaign in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month. We are bringing awareness to a critical but often overlooked issue: families who are wrongfully separated due to medical misdiagnosis and systemic failure within the child welfare system. The families we serve, known as fractured families, have been thoroughly vetted and determined to be factually innocent. These cases often begin with incorrect or incomplete medical conclusions, where parents are denied the opportunity to seek a second opinion. These are families torn apart not by abuse, but by error. In these cases, the harm does not come from the parents, but from the misuse of a system meant to protect. Even when medical experts determine that no abuse occurred, many families continue to face prolonged separation, financial devastation, and a lack of basic human respect. Through storytelling, community support, and direct fundraising, this campaign uplifts reunified families, supports those still fighting, and advances the need for second opinion protections nationwide. Protecting children must always be grounded in truth, accuracy, and human respect.

@YATPOfficial They absolutely should open up Juv courtrooms to the public. Its outrageous how many rapists and murderers get out in 2-3 years and it only happens b/c the juv courts are allowed to operate in secrecy.

This isn’t something most people know about… Financial incentives. Closed courtrooms. When systems reward taking children, especially the most vulnerable, we have a duty to speak out.

Support the mission. Help reunite families. Families facing wrongful separation, often due to medical misdiagnosis, carry heavy financial and emotional burdens, even after being proven innocent. Legal fees, lost income, travel, and ongoing system involvement add up fast, even when experts confirm no abuse occurred. This month, we’re raising $500 for each family we support to help ease that burden and support their path forward. UPDATE: Florida DCF is trying to place the Patterson kids for adoption immediately. @GovRonDeSantis, you can stop this. Every single medical expert who has looked at this case has said there's no evidence of abuse. None. These kids need medical treatment, not to lose their parents. Please, end this nightmare and give these kids back to their parents.
Spike Cohen@RealSpikeCohen

This is a direct appeal to @RonDeSantis. You can save an innocent family in Florida.

.@GovRonDeSantis your DCF has kidnapped these children from their innocent parents. You can stop this right now. We're happy to show you all the medical evidence. These kids have a medical condition. They were not abused, and every medical expert has confirmed that. Please, do the right thing. Lord, I pray that you open the eyes and soften the hearts of the people who can stop this nightmare.

URGENT: The Patterson Family Needs Immediate Help Michael and Tasha Patterson are at risk of permanently losing their children. Nearly four years ago, the state of Florida removed their medically fragile children based on a diagnosis of abuse that has since been widely challenged by medical experts. Since that time, multiple independent physicians, including a former Child Protection Team (CPT) doctor who previously worked within Florida’s own system, have reviewed the case and found that the children’s injuries are consistent with underlying medical conditions, not abuse. Despite this, Florida's Department of Children and Families (@MyFLFamilies) is actively moving forward with adoption. DCF leadership has acknowledged concerns in this case. Secretary Hatch publicly agreed to meet with a family advocate to review the evidence, but that meeting has still not taken place. This situation is now critical. Adoption is a permanent and irreversible decision. If it proceeds, Michael and Tasha may lose their children forever, regardless of what medical evidence continues to emerge. They are not asking for special treatment. They are asking for a fair and thorough review of the medical evidence before a life altering decision is made. We are urgently calling on Florida DCF to: Honor its commitment to review this case Meet immediately with the Patterson family’s advocate and counsel Fully and objectively consider the independent medical findings Pause all adoption proceedings until this review is completed A decision of this magnitude must be made based on complete and accurate information, not while serious medical concerns remain unresolved.

The Patterson family has received validation from a former child protection medical director that they've made a mistake, their children are NOT abused and have a medical condition. Despite this, the judge REFUSES to return their children to them. Please go to YATP call to action

Support the mission. Help reunite families. Families navigating wrongful separation face overwhelming financial and emotional burdens, even after being proven innocent. The families we support have been thoroughly vetted and are often fighting allegations rooted in medical misdiagnosis. Despite the truth being on their side, they face legal fees, lost income, travel costs, and prolonged system involvement, sometimes even after experts confirm no abuse occurred. This is not just a financial burden. It is a matter of human respect. This month, we are raising funds to support these families, with a goal of $500 per family to help relieve some of that pressure and support their path forward. You can help in two ways: -Donate to directly support families working to rebuild what should never have been broken. -Wear the mission by shopping our Power to Reunite merch, where every purchase helps provide relief and raise awareness This is about more than awareness. It is about restoring dignity, stability, and connection. Together, we can help reunite families.

This April, we’re changing our logo for Child Abuse Prevention Month. Every year, you see pinwheels placed publicly to represent children reported as abused. What you don’t see is how many of those pinwheels represent children wrongfully taken from loving families, victims of abuse at the hands of the system meant to protect them. Our logo this month features a pinwheel and a zebra pattern, symbolizing children with rare diseases - conditions that are often misdiagnosed and can lead to wrongful parental abuse charges. So many of our FRP families have been affected by this, and we stand in solidarity with them as we work to protect children from abuse by the system itself. Join us in raising awareness and supporting families who have been unjustly torn apart.
